I think more of a concern is a pilot trying to justify barrel rolling a large 1930’s / 40’s twin engined transport at a public airshow now.

I thought the DC-3 display at FL was near the kuckle but come on, what a ridiculous thing to do!!

Minor detail Bruce. As long as the data plate survived anythings possible. 🙂

Note the lead aircraft in the first group formation photo.

Well done. Wondered how long it would take you to notice. :o:D

Yes i know about the Sabre, just commenting on the markings. But the Hudson is a new one on me, and glad to hear its a flyer.

Also interesting to see ‘Winston’ with a set of tanks fitted.

That Sikorsky looks bigger than i imagined… shame it never made it to Duxford. Nice photo though.

Lovely selection of shots of refreshingly different types. Have to say i have a real soft spot for Royal Navy marked Chipmunks. 🙂

Love that Tunnan shot.. such a distinctive and refreshingly different aeroplane. Also the ‘Tonka’ nose up shot catches the eye.

Looks like a fantastic airshow Paul.. excellent variety. And that Sabre looks stunning in those markings.

    Is the Hudson a flyer?

😮 Cheers James. I was just following the thread as posted. Still a fine programme though!

Yes i found it fascinating. A programme devoted to a largely forgotten and record breaking bomber and the people who built it.
And it was moving enough listening to that dear ole chap and ex Wimpy pilot ‘Tiny’ Cooling reminiscing about the missions he flew and the close friends he lost in combat, but when it said he had passed away this year that really did bring a lump to my throat.

When airliners were still interesting! Thanks for posting these. Especially like the Sterling Caravelle.

I remember seeing a couple of clips of the impressive YB-49 Flying Wing in the original War of the Worlds movie. Awesome sight and sound.
