Nice shots Brian. I too was pleasantly surprised to see and hear the ‘Griffon’ 😉 Seafire come growling in. Whoever was flying it put on a great display.. and it sounds just a little bit more distinctive compared to the Griffon Spits.
I did also notice that on two occasions as the Seafire was recovering from the inverted the engine briefly smoked (thick black) and coughed and cut-out quite noticeably.. i’ve never seen that happen before. Hopefully it was a minor hiccup and all is well back at base.

Al, is the area shown with the aircraft awaiting scrapping the same part of the airfield as used for all disposals/scrapping that took place during the 1950’s?

I’m seriously starting to wonder what the actual point of this thread is, chaps.

It looks increasingly like random chat between a small group of users.

Would someone care to enlighten me?

You feeling left out GA? 🙂

According to a video i have on the RNHF Seafuries, pilot John Beattie is seen looking at and discussing the wreckage of TF956 at Yeovilton after its recovery by a Royal Navy vessel, and he quite clearly states that it is navy policy NOT to include items from crashed aircraft into the rebuld of other flying examples… or words to that effect.
