Glad to hear it. Much deserved advertising for the jacking and crane hire companys i hope. Well done to all involved.
i know its on the edge of my tongue, but i cant quite finger it
Sorry, but that made me laugh.. :p:D.
Thanks for posting this Dave… very sad news indeed. RIP Peter.
Just what i was thinking. No matter that it might not work properly… as i doubt that it will come with an aftersale guarantee.
Nice find although rather poignant. Pic on the front shows if i’m not mistaken John Derry with his wife Eve talking to actress Ann Todd, whom i believe became close friends with John.
Wonderful pics Mark12, i personally love to see and remember Duxford as the WW2/1950’s timewarp as depicted. Happy memories from when my father was a security guard during the fledgeling DAS days, just a year or two after your pics were taken, with unlimited access to all parts.
I wonder now how many people realise that at the time of the BoB movie Duxford was under serious consideration for being turned into Britains latest prison… before interest turned to Stradishall (now Highpoint) when that closed as an RAF base in the late 60’s.
Hi Doug,
Years ago i knew a guy who was once among other things a Javelin pilot at West Raynham. Not sure of his service record but if i can track him down i will pass on your contact details if you want to PM them to me.
Rob.
Nice pics… any more greatfully received.!:D
They even have the caravan club park on the playing field.
Thats now changed because of complaints. Instead they are now located for the weekend just across the road, slightly closer to the airfield.
Yes great news. Will the Sea Hawk be back on the circuit this year?
Thanks guys.. always thought it an intriguing aeroplane with that longer undercart and arrester hook. Also never noticed before that the canopies on Magisters and Zephyrs open differently.!
Wow.. it never ceases to amaze me the lengths people will go to to save historic aircraft… and also the generosity afforded them in there hour of need.!
Hunting down parts of mythical dragon is challenging enough thanks TO..;)
Do you know i have never noticed them before. Maybe because when she was outside there always seems to be something running out on the field to distract me.
Having seen its performance last year I have to say that it would be twice as good to see a pair together in the air rather than just on the ground.
Yes i agree.. with perhaps a couple or three of Spitfire IX’s in the circuit just to set the imagination rolling.
