Single seat Venom did a fast run and break through Duxford around 14.50pm. What a wonderful sound.
Very interesting article… not to mention a possible new engine and lease of life for the Canberra B.2 is fantastic news.!
Hmm.. sadly not the first time the Police have taken an interest in activities there. I’m sure a stolen vehicle / car ringing operation was uncovered there, and previous to that there was a case of illegal immigrants arriving / departing by light aircraft.
Excellent pics Blue_2.. thanks for sharing them. Are there any names on the back of the Python Lanc photos by any chance.?
Rob.
I thought last year’s Legends was one of the best shows of the year.
Have to agree with that… lots of new and exciting aeroplanes bought over from Europe, some of which i had never previously seen before.!
BMG, there are numerous Typhoon and Tempest projects on the go that are known of.. and possibly a few more that are still ‘secret’. To list all the parts still surviving would be virtually impossible as some collectors don’t like sharing such info.
But if you go to the search option and type in Typhoon, you may find some answers. 😉
You will Brian when you get your change. 😉
Looks like the Douglas Skyshark, turbine successor to the Raider but never entered service. Didnt realise any survived. About as pretty as a Wyvern:D
Hey steady… thats fighting talk where i come from ;).
Evening all,
quick post because I’m just on me way to the pub 😀
On the head-on Python shot-
L-R i presume- Me(?), Harry Phelps, Stan Brown, Bill Todd, Jim Hartley, Ernie Leek.
On the shot under the Port Python install-
Me(?), Ernie Leek, Sam Brown, Bill Todd, Harry Phelps, Jim Hartley.Would love to know who ‘Me’ is, he doesn’t identify himself in any of the shots…
If anyone’s interested let me know and I’ll do the Canberra ones too.
Many thanks Blue_2. Do you by any chance have any pics of Eddie griffiths, one time chief test pilot of AS Motors and based at Bitteswell before his death in 1954?
Incidentally the Wyvern shown, VW868, is currently sitting on the seabed in Falmouth Bay somewhere.. after being ditched in 1954.
…..eh….?
Looks like a Gannet with a go faster stripe and (nearly) as ugly:eek:
Baz
😮 Don’t let James hear you say that.. it could mean the end of your beautiful friendship. 😀
I know what you mean. The work and effort that these guys have put into getting not just the Lightning but so much of this collection working again is nothing short of amazing.. and i shall definately be paying them a visit this year. 😎
Guess they think you are Ugly Wyvernfan :D:D A cross plane 😀
Nah.. i think they’re just jealous Anna. ;):D
Hmmm…Looks like the lovechild of the Wyvern and Gannet…:D
Right thats it.. you were warned…i’ll see you after school :diablo:
…and a few more
James, yes the wheels made the journey home with me. As for the canopy.. its hard to tell from the angle and its half buried position but you could be right.
The Gannet cockpit was the reason why i took along my camera but sadly i did’nt get to see it.
