Bit of a quandry for anyone with lots of gear. Here is a link to this precise issue. Travel insurance, rider to homeowners policy, commercial coverage…all that stuff

Good luck, and let us know if you find a good deal. Hoping you never need to actually use the insurance!

Found a video clip of the incedent. Just ignore the “commercial” in front of the clip. Could have been a lot worse. fortunatly slid to a safe stop.

Nice Pics! What a great find. I beleive I have seen the shot of the Stuka before, though it might have been a slightly different angle.

As for how they would end up in an album…..when I was growing up, we had some nice Official USAF glossy 8×10’s and some 4×5 transparencies about the house. My father had been in the AF and in some of his duties were making displays and such, thus having access to photos and the like. Some drifted away home…..:dev2: Might have been the same sort of thing!

    Oooooooo, pretty!

What will that make, 7 flyers? Almost a squadron! I have yet to catch one of those in action!

Very interesting blueprints, Thank you for sharing.

Blue prints are terribly fragile things, especially when they are that old. Love to hear from some archivist on just how best to preserve them. Should probably handle with cotton gloves and stored in “dark” archival quality tubes to begin with.

Getting good scans/copies of each should be done carefully so they are not damaged in the process. Make sure the service doing the work are aware of their age and value. They are expensive to get done. I opted out of getting a scanner attachment for my wide format printer in that they wanted $12,000 for that little option!

CAUTION!!! It is in German, but some nice historical pics if you drill down through the site.

    From crawling through Google….
Sounds like the developers won. THe airport was closed and part of the land was redeveloped. Some of the old hangar space is now a film studio. The 1920’s terminal is protected as historic and has been refurbished. It looks like someone does balloon rides from the grounds, so a little aviation is still going on there even though “closed” as an airfield.

Gava.org has some wonderfull work on their site. I can waste hours drooling on the pieces there. Unfortunately for me, my work isn’t considered art:(

Very nice work. Charcoal can be such a smudgy beast to work with. You might sign up over at EHangar.com, an online aviation art site and pick the minds of those that are making a living doing aviation illustrations.

Mac OS is a different look and feel than that of your Win OS (I assume) that you have been using. It is a bit more intuitive in it’s setup and once you are used to it’s setup, it is a cleaner interface. But, if you insist on using your WindowsOS and apps, you can run those on your Mac as well using a program called Parallels. This will let you run either on the same machine.

Found one site that states that Walter Lawrence & Co produced Mossie Fuselages during the war.

I’m not going to get into a political mud flinging contest over whose fault it is. It has been brewing for a long time. The change in airline security has saved at least one A/C full of people, the shoe bomber! What would have happened if the IRA had started blowing up airliners?

Last week we had a woman (non-Arab looking) on a flight into TIA drop a note to a flight attendent saying she had a bomb, then ducked into the Lav. The attendent and a passenger proceeded to beat the door down with a fire extinguisher. She had no bomb, just “Off her meds”

Would they have reacted like this pre 911? People are more aware. Some people now refused to fly on 9-11. The world has changed.

If you have a spare day to slip away from the Gathering and a rentacar, might pop down to the USAF Museum at Wright Patterson AFB, (near Dayton OH) as they have a wonderful collection. Being that you will be soooo close.

Here is a link to the museum

Flew from the states to Norway and back in Jan. Several in our party had lage camera kit and we had no problems taking it on the plane. DO NOT CHECK CAMERA GEAR IN BAGGAGE. Lost a telephoto that was in checked baggage several years ago..busted lock…lens gone…learned that lesson. Carry the kit. All of it! might get travelers insurance though.
