And one further question that has been driving me mad. Is the Belle wearing red or blue? or is she Blue on the Port side and Red on the Starboard Side?
Thanks for any input or direction..
Now would that be delivered Parcel Post or by Airmail?! 😉
Very nice….but should have ordered up some nice blue sky with puffy white clouds!:D
Good to see her flying
Shot by chase plane or from the ground?
According to Wikipedia
“Picturesque private aircraft based here include a Boeing Stearman and an Iskra jet trainer once serving the Yugoslav Air Force. ”
Does not say if it is flyable.
Here is a link to a pic of it
She was also at RAF Leeming–12-07-2004 according to this web blogger/plane spotter

Found this trace of your A/C, it was on the flightline at RAF Coningsby, Open Day-Scramble Airshow in 1986.
A B-17 won’t fit in my back yard. Do they have any new or used P-51’s? Spitfires Perhaps?! A Corsair would fit the ticket, that way I could fold the wings and keep it in my garage!:D 😀
Great Site, Well Done!
Clean, easily navigated, lots of information of who what when and where.
Looks like a nice little collection and aerodrome. Would love to visit if I ever get up that way.
Phantom II, like I said back in post 166, I just saw one of the “Starfighters” team in action. see pic
They did NOT do a lot of aerobatics, mostly low fast passes, some knife edge flyby’s for the crowd. Loud, with that distinctive howl/growl, very blue paint. My first good look at one in a good while. They fly over once in a while, but by the time I run outside with my telephoto, they are usually over the horizon. They have a FAST approach speed to the airport 7 miles North!
Wasn’t part of the problem early on the shortage of 2-seat variants for training? I seem to recall reading that somewhere. It was a light, fast bird to be sure but landing fast is dangerous business. Political yes, but what military A/C aren’t?
They had one at the last airshow I attended. He used a LOT of runway. Granted, he probably does not wish to push his airframe or burn more fuel than he has to. This team has two flying and a third “in the wings” getting ready. They are based out of St Petersburg/Clearwater Airport. I am under the approach pattern and hear them from time to time. Very distinctive.
Sounds like fun! I hope they make a go of it.
I read about an African company doing the same sort of thing at Victoria Falls with DC3 and Convair 440s and trains, Practicly modern!!
Nice pics! Pretty day for flying!
Here is a shot of mine of a 51-C in Tuskeegee war paint! (Kermit Weeks Collection) They had a nice little movie of the refurbishment of the A/C and the pilot of this aircraft on hand for it’s first flight in HIS colors.
I have been running my Canon 10D for two years now with one of my favorite airshow lenses being my 75-300 ( 1:4-5.6). Works pretty well, but no stabilization and it had better be nice and sunny!
If you can use your old SLR lenses, an expensive investment, remember that the digital bumps the focal length by a factor of something like 1.6. So your OK old zoom lens takes on a nice increase in zoom factor!
In lookin at used gear, try to find out how many times the shutter has fired! Someone who shoots a lot can burn through the shutter mechanism in a couple years and then dump it on EBay to avoid the expensive repair! Also, watch for lost pixels on the CCD. At two years old, I have 3 that have failed on my Canon….so….buyer beware.
Might check with nuav.net, the Norway during WW2 forum. Someone there might be able to point you in the right direction.
I have run across Spitfires used as target tugs….no joy on the Hotspur towing yet. I’ll keep looking
