All depends on the definition of replica. I don’t think this one from 1943 wold stand up to close inspection!;)

Might inquire at the Canada Aviation Museum, as their Hind came from former Afghan service. Their link is

Yes, your PC should be able to do that, or if not as it stands, download a little reader utility. You might even be able to convert it to NTSC depending on your software/hardware combo and burn a DVD so you can use your DVD player/TV

I’m the fool that started the last thread regarding the Brodie System. I am working on an illustration of it in action, South Pacific mounted on an LST.

Do you recall the name of the author or book title? I am still trying to find the A/C number and markings for the one actually used in action that I am working on.

The “new” one “Grasshopper” that I have seen pics of…Is that the authors A/C? Wondered about the invasion stripes, as far as I know, it was only used in the Pacific….but he is the expert.

It is a dangerous business, moresoever in jets.

Here is the link to Starfighters. Cool site. They even have a paper model of a 104 you can download and build.

That is from our local 104 group! Any details? Who was flying?

They were due to be at the MacDill show with all three birds at the end of the month!:(

Condoleces and prayers to the team and families.

Yes, Rudel’s account is mostly Eastern front with a good deal of it involving hunting tanks, getting shot down several times, even “fishing” with a Stuka. I believe it is about the best Eastern front aviation book I have come across.

Actually, using Firefox on a Mac, but I just switched to Camino after some other issues. I try NOT to use Internet Exploder! OOPS! Did I say that out loud?! Never been a big fan of IE. Too many backdoors and security issues.

Google is a wonderful tool. Dangerous, but wonderful. Didn’t get a hit on the whole number/letter mess, so broke it into the first bit with bullet and the last bit as bullet and got a hit(so to speak).

So who is hunting your chickens with blanks? Roosters bothering some neighboor too early in the morning?!:diablo:

The L13A1 bulletseems to indicate a blank round-British-NATO 7.62x51mm, the RG80 is perhaps the lot number?

The first blank (L10A1) was a FN made blank bought by the Brittish army. It was soon replaced by the Brittish made L10A2. This was simply a copy of the L10A1. Later the L13A1 was produced (a version with less brass). The L13A1 was changed a little into L13A2. In the ’90 s the Brittish army purchased blanks from Hirtenberger of Austria.

My old boss was a P-40 pilot with the Free Dutch AF, whe came in at about 6’2″ later transitioning to P-51s( said those were a bit tight to fit in. It helps to be big when muscling a heavy warbird in High-G combat. Of course when he and another large friend took a Cub for a romp in Australia, maxing out the poor things limit, he got in trouble when he took it up a blind canyon and ran out of air space. Too much size in an airframe is not a good thing.

One for the B-17 man! I have seen a maximum crew load on the side of the A/C stating 1200 lbs. At a 10 man crew, if my math is working, leaves only 120 per crew man! Is that weight load mearly a suggestion? I know the ball turret operator had to be small!!!

Follow this link-Wikapedia, it has a bunch of good definitions as well as an organisational flow chart on how their air groups were set up. Your next book MUST be “Stuka Pilot” By Hans Rudel. It is simi-autobiographical and goes through most of the war.
