I have heard rumor of the 109E-3 being restored for Paul Allens, Flying Heritage Museum, though have not heard an update on that in a while, Here is a list of 109’s to browse through.

Carrier looks to be a Majestic Class which would narrow it down a bit.
Here is a link with some nice pics of ship and A/C

I assume you have done the typical google search and reached that general information, ran across a reference to a book that might be of help IF you can find a copy

Ashworth, Norman, Air Commodore RAAF. The Anzac squadron: a history of No. 461 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force, 1942-1945. Carlisle, Australia: Hesperian Press, 1994. ix, 275 p.: ill.: pbk. [The squadron’s operations from, and life in, Pembroke Dock].

If the 520 had been available is number, with well trained crew AND used modern tactics, they could have had a major impact on slowing the invasion. But then again, the French and English tanks were better than the German tanks, the French/English Forces outnumbered the German forces, but their tactics were, at best, outdated.

The tactics of the Blitzkrieg was too new to quickly retrain the ENTIRE force to work together, and while more and better aircraft would have perhaps blunted the spear, the rest of the services would also have needed newer and better equipment and most of all NEW TACTICS. How many times can one invade through the Arden?

The Free French 520s were relegated to training and then replaced by the Aircobra…doesn’t say a whole lot for it.

…and I thought it was to remind them what part of their body would be hitting there if they didn’t buckle in properly!!

Very, very Nice!!! Have to see if I can wrangle a visit next time I’m in Houston (my folks live there). Had no idea the Lone Star collection had added that many aircraft. Guess it’s been a while since I moved from Tx (’84)

Last time I was in Houston, a couple T-6’s, a Helldiviver, and something with meatballs on the side buzzed over my folks house (NW outside the loop near the Addix Reservoir) pretty low. Where did they come from and where were they going?

I have been watching for new information on it as well and have not seen any. Got to lay my hand on it’s prop last year as it rest in a tank of fresh water, purging the salt and trying to stabilize it. Quite an experience.

Here is a link to a “brief” outline of that period. He had been “wowed” by the Nazi’s while touring in Germany and believed the US should stay out of that European mess. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, things changed, he tried to do his patriotic duty, but was snubbed by the FDR adminestration. He eventually worked his way back into US Aviation.

    Here is the link…interesting read.

Landing does seem to be the tricky bit though! Imagine if the German’s had got their carrier in service…..with the 109 naval variant!!! 38% loss to landing would be a good day!

It is indeed a worldwide problem of “petty theft”. Around here, they are stealing A/C units from houses, wiring and plumbing from buildings under construction or abandoned, RR control wires (the ones that turn on the warning lights at RR Crossings!) sprinkler heads from farmers irrigation systems, and this week, several thousand people lost their phone service when someone hacked a few feet of telephone cable from an open utility hole! That is aside from having graves and memorials desecrated and flags stolen!
