Not just the pretty orange Auster T7’s – Auster had previous experience with ski aircraft, when conditions in WW2 meant that within 2 weeks of a request being made, skiis were designed, tested, built and sent to Europe for use on Auster squadrons in NW Europe

Here’s a photo of the T7 at Cosford anyway. Pretty!
What’s the other GW listed building?
The 1917 built Officers Mess down the road would make nice offices – aside from the staircase and one of the inside rooms most of it has been completely gutted for (very poor quality, I should know) student accomodation
Hahaha, I love it! The last one particularly rings true 😀
Is it alright to put it on the Auster group message board?
I thought the factory/entrance building would be moved with the watch tower – the watch tower was built at the back of it, so in essence it’s one building
It mentions it on the website

Turn left, and it’s about, a minute at the most! Past the museum, past the police station, past the first block of apartments as you round the corner, cross the road leading into the modernised area, and you’re there. If you walk to the museum from the tube station you’ll pass it after passing the 1917 officers mess
Thanks for the help everyone – Flightglobal is, as you say, going to be very useful, but I don’t want every single reference for my dissertation to be from there! Timbo, thanks for the offer – I dropped an e-mail to the CAA library last night about visiting their aviation library to see if they have the reports on the G-ALYP inquiry (as well as anything on G-ALYY) so should be alright for that one.
Cheers, Rob
The IWM BE2c was with a Home Defence Squadron, Dover I think. Would look great with the covered over front cockpit and a pair of upward firing Lewis’
Hi Rob,
As it’s a dissertation, did you get photos of the hatch and Comet model of Yoke Peter in the Science Museum’s Making of Modern Britain exhibition? I’ve got some if you need them.
Cheers
Cheers – I was down there last Friday but i’ll be back with my camera at some point to get some photos of the Comet bits as well as the Electra, SF Cody’s aircraft etc
Thanks for the new suggestions guys, hadn’t thought about the National Archives
L21 was shot down off the coast of Lowestoft on 28th November 1916, but that’s clearly not April! The only one downed anywhere near that date would be L15 which came down off Margate on 31st March 1916. After that, no airship was downed near the UK until William Leefe Robinson shot down SL11 in September at Cuffley
Certainly makes a lot more sense Keith, not sure why I read it thinking it was off a Zepp, I think the inscription would be different if it was. Could be a confusion of dates – as mentioned, there was a naval raid in April 1916, however there was a Zepp raid (Navy airship L5) on April 15 1915
Various Uni courses – Coventry off the top of my head (and on the plus side you’d get to tinker with a Harrier)
Fingers crossed for anti-flash White!
WOW! For only a thousand pounds I can see a Vulcan up close and talk to the people that work on it?!

This shows 2x tents near the bottom of the page.
Why not cover it in camo netting and fit anti aircraft battery within it.!
Cripes, I wouldn’t touch replicaters with a hundred foot barge pole. A lot of the photos they use are taken from other sources, and the quality is very very poor – if you actually get your items in the first place
