Is that just about the architecture of the building, or the contents? Have a feeling it’s about the former, might give it a look though
Built a load of model kits, currently i have a beautiful Tamiya 1/48 Bristol Beaufighter VI in my cupboard, can’t build it until i paint the interior though and can’t afford any paint at the minute.
Also working on a 1/72 Horsa glider, stopped building that for same reason as the Beau, got a growing collection of British Airborne Division vehicles and artillery for loads for it
Nice little line, ive spent most summers of my life (17 so far) in that area. Did you go to the Muckleburgh Collection near Weybourne Station? They have a Meteor night-fighter and Harrier Gr.3 there among many military vehicles.
Might be worth asking this question at http://www.national-preservation.com/forum theres a guy there who seems to know a lot about the streamlined pacifics. Quite a few B of B’s are still around today, they look a lot better streamlined, a lot of them had the streamlining removed.
Is that the Hunter F.6a that crashed not too long ago? Hope they rebuild her, a beautiful aircraft.
I think the Bristol Brigand is at the Bristol Collection, same airfield as the Science Museum storage collection (forget the name, will come back to me any second). Think it was rescued from a scrapyard, would be nice to have it restored though
‘Remember that time he also chewed our tail off? Lets see how HE feels!’
Anyone know if any of the Fw 190’s are coming over to the UK? Haven’t heard of this project before, very interesting!
I must take a wander down there – Vosper MTB’s come a close second to aircraft with me!
Personally i’d love a Vosper, probably wouldn’t cost as much as a warbird, plus i could live on it!
If by some chance you happen to get to Waddo next year come across to the Canberra Assoc flight line enclosure, I’ll let you in and we’ll make you welcome. You can mingle with and talk informally to blokes who actually flew with the RAF in the days we had a proper air force – Cans, Vulcs, Shacks, Victors, Lightnings, Hunters, Buccs, etc. You may just get more than you bargin for though as they’re not easy to shut-up when in the “There I was . . ” mode!!
Might just take you up on that one!
Wow, haven’t heard of that but would be interesting to see. Theres a lot of old Motor Torpedo Boats and similar ex-navy vessels used as houseboats, would be nice if a couple were restored.
Pfft everyone knows every great aircraft was powered by a merlin at one point – Spitfire, Hurricane, Lancaster, Halifax, Beaufighter, Buchon, need i go on 😀
Thank you Flood!
It seems strange that it was known most popularly as the ME 109 even tho it was officially designated bf 109.
Does ME sound, err, sexier than bf?? 😉
I think ‘Bf’ sounds more powerful and strong, but i’ve always known it as the ME109. Although for a proper 109 you can’t beat the Hispano Buchon, looks beauuutiful and has the sweet sound of a Merlin engine
Would make a very interesting addition, only shortage at the DH Museum seems to be space!
Would be nice for the DH Museum to put in an offer and restore it, but they have a lot on their hands already
SEVEN is the answer. The brain cannot process the word “OF” any one who counts all seven first go count your self a genius but three or four is normal.
