Interesting if true, would be one heck of a project though!
Cheers Beaufighter, this news has made my day! By the way, are you still after extra hands to help with the restoration? By about May time i should have transport, and i’d love to come down a couple of times or more a month and help out
Outstanding aesthetic importance alone would keep a Mossie in the UK, they’re beautiful!
mmm nice, must go there before too long! Believe theres a walk-through Halifax fuselage at Yorkshire Air Museum too
Ah thanks, thought the list would be something like that. Shame about the aircraft that went to Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, i believe they’re mostly in storage now
Ah didn’t think about that, would be nice, perhaps a second T2 hangar for the Wellington and Hampden, and drag them out to be by the Lancaster before and after it does it’s taxi runs 😀 Ahhh magic
Sounds good if it does happen, if by that you mean both halves together, on it’s undercarriage. You wouldn’t be able to tell that the other side was different unless you looked head on, the fuselage is so thin
Is the Hampden relatively complete then? Thought it was only the tail section. Would be very nice though, believe theres a Hampden under restoration at East Kirby as well, would go nice with the Lanc
Oops! Meant Leslie Neilsen, and the spoof film was ‘Spy Hard’, think it was that with the Harrier gag not sure
Would be very nice, not sure where it would go though, theres not many museums with either the space and/or building space for one. Personally i wouldn’t mind if it went overseas, would still mean one more complete Welly
‘True Lies’, more of a comedy if you ask me, was spoofed by another film with John Leslies (Think that’s the guy) in a spy spoof, where a criminal was chasing him, got to the top of an office block and then John Leslies appears hovering up in a harrier, then he gets out and the harrier is on the top of a US Marines advertisement board 😀
Had my second lesson tomorrow, getting the hang of it, great fun going down a dual carriageway at 40-50mph weeeee 😀

Would it take much to restore the Halifax? Such a shame to see all the other bombers standing up with their heads held high in the bomber hall, and the Halifax lying on the gruond like a sad puppy. Although we have wrecks like that to thank for a lot of aircraft preservation, i’d rather see her preserved as she would be 60+ years back, she’s also the only Halifax with a front turret as far as i know
Under restoration was a Bolingbroke, Fairey Battle, Lancaster, Swordfish, Dragon Rapide, Short Scion, Anson and more.
What happened to these? Obviously the Lanc went to the US, mostly interested in what happened to the Scion, Bolingbroke and Battle, unless thats how the RAF Museum got their Blenheim and Battle
