Thanks Rob, I didn’t realise Brisfit was a later term. With the regard to the RR Falcon, was it a case that early ones were left handed and later ones right, or is it not as simple as that? I also can’t help wondering why the direction was changed at all. Any ideas?
I don’t know why they produced them in both handed versions to be honest, Wikipedia says that the Falcon I was produced in left and right handed versions, and so was the larger RR Eagle I which the Falcon was derived from – possibly something to do with engine wear on the Falcon, I think the Eagle’s handed-ness comes from the Handley Page twin engine O/100 and O/400 bombers
Great shots Brian, my last efforts at Hendon came out rather differently! 😀 Great shots of the Lightning and the cutaway Brisfit, which appears to have a left-handed prop? Were there right handed and left handed RR Falcons?
Yes, left hand is correct – there’s even painted arrows on the blue band on each side of the blade to remind ground crew which way to start it. Regarding the term ‘Brisfit’, this is believed to be a post-WW1 term and I certainly haven’t seen it in any WW1 literature, whereas the crews commonly called them ‘Biff’s
Be interesting to see which exhibits actually go back to Lambeth – looking at the design it would probably be best if most of them don’t, with vehicles surrounded at the sides by concrete and the front overhanging the atrium

I love Lambeth as it is and it’s very fit for purpose, the new design looks cold and awful
Anyone have any idea of what might be happening on Remembrance Sunday, on the airfield ?
Public service at 1pm I believe. I’ll probably be working so won’t make it
Oooh wonderful, my favourite scheme! Will it get the vokes filter too?
Wonder if they cut the bit of the man on fire falling from the aircraft – whenever they show ‘Aces High’ on ITV they always cut most of that, most of the ending dogfight and the best scene, the one right at the end where the ghost walks toward the pond then dissapears!
What’s the story behind the Canberra nose art?

I think the advertising for this event should be reported to trading standards.
If you feel so strongly about it then, why don’t you? I’m sure Shuttleworth, who for all you know could have genuinely believed the aircraft would have appeared until recently, would appreciate it, and you’ll feel really good about yourself

I did mention to the other Royal Flying Corps chappies I was with that the two Hawker biplanes running up would have made things interesting for anyone behind the hedge!
Absolutely superb display, really was incredible to see the RE8 airborne. After being made redundant a week and a bit ago I was feeling absolutely fed up of aviation, funny how that quickly went away once I drove past Old Warden on my way in and saw all those lovely PC10 wings…

I was also hoping to see the Taylorcraft Plus C/2 which Snibston has in store, and served with the BEF in 1940, but unfortunately that was in another, closed, storage area
