Yep, it’s the Bobsleigh – been looking forward to seeing it for years as I used to be able to see the factory site from my house.
Tim, the storage area was open to the public during last Sunday’s Transport Festival and there was no mention of the prohibition of publication of images mentioned to me by the member of staff I talked to about the aircraft whilst clicking away
I photographed it in the same position some years ago – but that was on condition that you had to respect a prohibition on any publication of images taken in the storage area. Has that restriction now been lifted?

Interesting – apparently the group i’m a member of (http://www.thegreatwarsociety.com) was approached and the museum sounded very keen but then went silent….. shame, as we could have provided numbers of RFC and WW1 British Infantry with demonstrations etc

Looks good – were there any re-enactors there as advertised?

The website says that the Great War Display Team will be flying 2 shows a day. The rest of the “display” will be large scale radio control models.
Hopefully the weather will be a bit kinder this time. Unfortunately both the fly ins I attended at Stow Maries last year were blighted by strong winds which reduced the number of visitors. They definitely deserve better luck with the weather this year.
Whatever happens, the Great War Society will be there doing a WW1 Infantry and Royal Flying Corps display, including myself, with the Sopwith Pup static replica they have there. Just finished repairs to one of my replica Lewis guns and ready for the three hour trip tomorrow!
First weekend of May I’ll be at RFC Stow Maries
Beautiful restoration. I wouldn’t fancy trying to get out of it in a hurry though….
Even getting in, in a Sidcot suit, must have been a squeeze.
It is – I helped him into it!

Thanks – managed to capture me, in my RFC mechanics overalls. We were all looking at the chap’s photo album of his relatives in the Great War, including pre-war Territorials and even earlier Volunteer Rifles, and also RFC, fascinating original images
Hi Alan, do you have any photographs of the living historians there?
something similar over dunchurch near rugby this afternoon.
Rugby’s only a few miles south of the location in Leicestershire – although it went over Leicestershire at 10am so probably the return journey

Large military biplane flying over Leicestershire today
Had a text my dad earlier today saying he had seen a large grey coloured biplane with RAF style roundels and large lettering, heading north over south west Leicestershire today. Does anyone know what it is likely to have been? Could only think of Fairey Swordfish or a two-seat Hawker
