QANTAS used an SP into Heathrow at least once on a round the World flight I think
perhaps more, but they were very rare

A wheels up landing:p
Many aircraft can drop part of the gear as a speed brake, but I’ve only known it as the mains only, not the nose only
I saw a clip from the film and noticed that too. On looking more closely it is not a Bristol Freighter dorsal fin…it’s a different shape and not blended in.
It looks like a temp addition possibly because of the way they were throwing it about they needed an increase to the fin area for safety???
That was certainly a Srs.21 without a dorsal…normally
G-AIFV was damaged in the filming but repaired and returned to Silver City..minus the dorsal.

KLM use the MD-11 on some South American routes
G-STAN was bought as a Srs.100 and converted to a 200
Interesting pics Keith
It’s sort of displayed or was then.
An improvement on a pic I saw with a basic livery but stripped and looking hidden away.
They seem to have made it look presentable in it’s present form. At least it is preserved until the means to complete and re assemble are found.
I don’t know what it is but it looks similar to the decca nav system fitted under some Bristol Freighters….a bit smaller though here.
Would be interesting to know:confused:

Hi Rui
The last I heard of the Duxford Ambassador was that it was still in bits amd not very accessable, tucked up in the back of a hangar:(
Perhaps someone has an update??

I remember an incident back in the 1980’2 where a Monarch (I think) flight had to leave some pax behind
On the previous flight a rugby team stole the life jackets
They manged to get a few from various sources but they were, I think it was 3 short, so they could not carry pax on the seats without life jackets and those passengers had to stay behind.
Not only did that inconvenience the pax but it cost the airline for the life jackets, to put up the stranded overnight and potentially the loss of revenue on pax occupying seats that had been allocated on an earlier flight.
This is pure theft and should be treated as such and also it is interfering with the safety equipment of an aeroplane
A jail term should be automatic.

This is quite normal
I’ve never known any fleet get sold/retired in order.
There are many factors involved
