With reference to G-ATAB, it was a DC 7B

It was often reported as a DC 7C probably because the tail was misread

near the top of the fin they had DC 7 writted as D7C

There were a lot in production for various airlines

When the crashes occurred the type certificate was withdrawn so all that went on hold then eventually cancelled as all the versions current then were shelved with only the complete Comet 3 continuing and helping to develop the Comet 4.

In the meantime the airlines went elsewhere

I doubt if it will be too heavy if full as there will be very little fuel carried

TBH I don’t see the point of this as it is BAA airports

Unless it shows all airports the information is of no real use

I would think the limited number of days at Farnborough is simply a balance between the need to show it to the trade and and losing valuable days in an already delayed test programme.

Not to mention the “Whispering Giant”, i.e. the Britannia!

    Now that was quiet!

Outside yes but depending where you were seated it could be very noisy inside due to prop wash hitting the fuse.

I’ve travelled on the 146 a couple of times and it was nosier than the Viscount

A lot of wind rumble especially just behind the wing 🙂

I remember the Lockheed Tristar being branded as “The Whisperjet” by Eastern Airlines in the 1970s. 😎

    The TriStar was the “Whisperliner”

    I see it as simple

You are paying for one seat

If you need two then you pay for two

You have to be medically super fit for ejections.

Plus all the above points mentioned
