I’ve also always heard it called Gatwick…..never London Gatwick.
Just like Stansted they try and have us beleive it’s London Stansted
We even have London Southend and London Ashford (Lydd) but who on earth would ever think of them as that.
Ah OK:cool:
Just DAS and pics of Dan Air Services who used to preserve an example of their aircraft confused me
How can DAS have the means to preserve one when they went bust in 1992 and were sold to BA for £1 in 1992???
G-ARAY was scrapped
The first protoype was G-APZV and that was converted into the prototype HS.780 Andover as G-ARMV and eventually became a part ATP mock up as the ATP used the basic wing of the Andover rather that the 748 wing
Channel took over Tradair which gave them some Vikings and theur first Viscount.

Somr great stuff here:D
Any pics of Bristol Superfreighter on the dump??
The fuselages of G-AMSA and G-AMWC were present in the mid sixties
Ah Sorry yes
In a hurry
I clicked on the link further down….yes re the original vid..that quite normal…..nothing unusual at all….a procedural go around.
There was nothing normal or usual about that….it was serious in fact
The wing hit the ground and the end of it was knocked off meaning he went back into the air with a shorter damaged wing…….otherwise he was coming off the side of the runway……….does that happen every day??
Yes, there are crosswind landings that look much worse than they are and those are very common…..almost routine……this was something else
😀 Indeed…….there is only one true 748;)
Please excuse my ignorance…but what is “BOB”
Exactly what I was thinking;)
So there’s at least two of us:eek:

What’s this about starving if no food for three hours?
That’s not staving
Not unusual to go three hours at work without eating. Your supposed to have three meals a day, that’s longer than three hours between meals.
Why rely on the airline to feed you?…..It a case of taking resposibility to sort yourself out and grab something to eat before hand.
A lot of fuss about nothing.

The Sunshade support is a C-47 but the other aircraft looks more like a Varsity.

The biggest problem here is the use of the term ‘cut and shut’
Taking parts off one machine to use on another is no different to taking parts out of a box or off a shelf. The damage is repaired with replacement parts that meet stringent requirements.
Cut and shut is something else where damaged parts are patched or repaired badly using bits that are no good, this being done by un authorised personell and not cleared by the authorities.
Using parts from other machines is very common in civil and military. Many of you will have read about the B-17 in WW.II that was the front of one machine and the back of another..different marks too and one half in the natural and the other in green.
This is just making use of what is around. Pics can be found of aircraft with the wrong serial on a wing because a damaged wing was replaced with one from a crashed aircraft. It’s always been done and is only done with parts properly checked and documented.
In civil aviation there have been instances. The most famous would be the TWA 707 which had it’s cockpit area completely blown off by hijackers grenades placed on the flightdeck. The nose of the BOAC 707 G-ARWE that had caught fire in the air and burned out on the ground after an emergency landing was grafted on and the aircraft flew again until it’s normal retirement time.

Nice pics;)
The Olympic is ghastly:eek:…unbalanced and looking like it was designed by a six year old,
These modern designers really have no idea:diablo:
