Over 50 Avro 19s, civil version of the Anson C19 were produced at the end of the war.

Why does it say Heron air crash???
Was the aircraft from HMS Heron??
Garry
Hi Roger
You didn’t comment on my mention of the Belfast??
Garry
It certainly doesn’t look the sort of statio that would be regional.
It seems the programme is on next week which is why I couldn’t find it on todays listing.
If not as suggested I’ll pick it up on off the BBC iPlayer afterwards;)
Garry
Fairey Rotodyne.military serial but civil tested
Bristol Sycamore
Westland Widgeon……..their own adaption of the Dragonfly
Short Belfast was offered as civil but no sales but did have a longer civil career than a military one and one still flies.
These are all aircraft but are you thinking more of aeroplanes?
Garry
OK yep complete list
Airspeed Ambassador
Blackburn Universal…..Beverly differed from the prototype which wass offered for civil use.
Garry
Thanks Ian
I’ll look out for it next week:)
Garry
I’m a little confused as you want to list surviving aircraft then say that you know some on your list are already extinct……why include them??
Garry
Just a quick comment on the ‘toy like’ appearance of the Comets nose gear.
On the Comet the steering gear etc is up the top neatly within the fuse line where as on most types it is just the bottom part of the leg with the steering gear mounted on the leg itself about half way down making a very complex looking unit. The Comet’s bare pole look is simply the steering being out of sight.
Garry
Odd My TV guide lists World News Today at that time and nothing abiut the above anytime on BBC4.
Is it different in Scotland perhaps??
Garry
Jersey Airlines ceased to exist as such well before the Twin Otter existed. As mentioned above I think you are thinking of Jersey European. The only Twin Otter I can think of out of Shoreham at that time was Metropolitan Airways…..in full Dan Air livery……..Shoreham-Alderney for a short while.
I don’t know if they flew the route in their own livery defore the Dan Air tie-up.
JEA may have operated Twin Otters into there but I don’t know off hand
Garry
Indeed….it never entered service. The flight was a pre service CAA test flight.
Garry
Jersey Airlines became British United CI Airways in 1963 so I would think the Islanders and Twin Otters you refer to were Jersey European or infact with the Islander the forruner, Intra Airways-Jersey.
Did JF Airlines ever go to Shoreham with Twin Pioneer, Heron and Trislander?
Garry
I have all the information you need. Apart from always having a soft spot for the type I have been building a model for Flightsim.
You need to choose what you want as there are different cockpit glazings, main cabin window arrangements and in the case of four aircraft, a smaller repositioned passenger door.
Operators were
Air Charter
Air Ferry
British Air Ferries
British United Air Ferries
Channel Air Bridge
Cie Air Transport (France)
Lambair (Canada)
Midland Air Cargo
SABENA (Belgium but UK registered)
Silver City
Some of these operators have several liveries or just variations
