I seem to remember reading about those Merlins oiling up if not kept above a certain RPM making the type tricky to taxy.

My pet hate is that aircraft always have to “Sream” like a dive bomber just before they crash…….including straight and level into a mountain.

The Victor and Vulcan were still under development with new versions planned…Victor tankers for example

It was a bit of a grey area at times. Also the fact that production was completed did not mean it was out of production just that they had no more to build. Civil airloners are a little more defined there.

The Atlantique and Transall are examples of types that went back into production.

The choice of aircraft in the Observers book of Aircraft was simple.

It had to be under development or in production.

This meant inclusion of many obscure types that didn’t make it while out of production types like the Douglas DC3,4,6,7, Lockheed Constellations and many others were out by the sixties despite still flying around in their hundreds.

I can’t think of anything that would have appeared in the book then…..apart from the usual common types

Wasn’t the stability of the narrow track U/C a problem on the Seafire leading to the inward retracting of the Seafang?

To me it’s always seems, or at least usually, to have been written Bf.109, Bf.110 but spoken Me.109, Me.110

    Hi Truc

    Thanks for the info

My model has the autocoarsening system but I was un aware of the control linking.

Although of interest to look at the diagram would not be of any use to me for modelling puropses as that is all done by maths.

I’ll send you a PM with some pics of the model as it is not really the right palce here.

    Thanks again.

It was said a while back they were making a farewell tour to give folk the chance to fly on one before the pleasure flights were grounded….(not the aeroplanes.)
