Hey guys
How would you like it if after having a conversation with someone they went home and started an open to the world debate on whether or not you were telling the truth.
How unfair, and no one except the first poster has spoken to him so is in no position to make a judgement even if it was right….which it’s not.
A bit of empathy perhaps???

Just came across some more info about the last two MAC aircraft
When MAC folded they were wfu… G-APAU was at Lasham and ‘AV was withdrawn at Coventry.
When no buyers were found after some considerable time idle G-APAV made one last flight…..to Lasham for scrapping.
Garry
he said he had flown them…not that he flies them
Garry
They had a taxyiable Vicker Viking replica as well (the biplane not post war airliner)
I eventually got to go to Thorpe park but sadly that had moved on just before.

The tax people pay on smoking more than covers the NHS treatment.
The Government was reluctant in the fifties to discourage smoking as the made so much money that way they did not want to upset the books.
You can’t start charging for so called self inflicted as the taxes have been paid and they have a right to the treatment.
Problem with demands that so called self inflicted illnesses always apply to everyone else. The mooters of such ideas would scream out loud that they were some sort of exception if it was applied to them.
Also the fact a smoker has cancer does not mean the cancer was caused by smoking . If it was then all smokers would have cancer and none smokers would never get it.
Most health conditions are either self inflicted or self induced if you think about it……..lack of exercise, poor diet, taking risks.
One of the biggest drains on the health service are time wasters using resources where there is nothing wrong with them
Perhaps that is an area where persistent offenders could be charged like when ambulances turn up to find the patient has just popped out and will be back in a mo.
As to smokers and drinkers etc, let them be. If they do kill themselves early then that’s their choice and the pension fund will be saved.
As it stands the government want everyone to live longer by taking the pleasure away then moan they can’t afford to look after the increasing amount old elderly.
One other thing
If the NHS was saved millions you would be no better off.
They would cut the budget down and you would still have a basic service and would not get a reduction in tax.

The famous one was the Supermarine S.6B

Confirmation
Air Atlantique KK116 (G-AMPY) was in Ediburgh and made at least eight flights on Sunday and eight on Monday.

Hi Truc
A very sad event indeed. The only other fatalities on the Superfreighter were on G-ANWL which claimed the lives of the two crew. The passengers survived.
Did you actually pilot it??
I am building the Superfreighter for Flight Simulator and one of the difficulties has been finding anyone who actually flew them.

The C-46 was rare aeroplane in Europe
Fred Olsen used them for a while but probably for England the best known were the Capitol machines used by Lufthansa one in their livery and I think there was another US outfit with some based in Germany.
These were small numbers…..single figures….perhaps just two or three at any one time.
BOAC did have an early model very briefly.
Alaska has become quite a haven for older rarer types and must be quite an exciting job flying theses type in that environment.
Garry
I see the date but is that not the one that occurred in Nov 2007?
SAS withdrew the type immediately ….I thought
Garry
Thanks for that
I sort of missed it
I think perhaps with G-APAV at least it may well have been withdrawn from use in Coventry then flown down to Lasham for disposal causing some confusion.
The reports at the time of MAC’s demise were quite clear on one being at each airport that that could be either wrong source info or an event that changed.
G-ANVR for example was wfu and stored at Lydd but quite sometime later made one last flight to Coventry to be used for spares.
Both G-APAU and G-APAV were bought by Shackleton Aviation so it is possible if one was wfu at Coventry it was flown down to Lasham for servicing if sold.

I suppose they would all adopt a similar fuse profile in the early stages from pure streamlining
The wing was were the real differences would show as the different designers tried to find the ideal compromises for the particular need.
Concorde was a great achievement as the various difficulties were overcome despite additional barriers. The British imperial measurement system and the French using metric added to the fun
As one of the Concorde team once put it…….”We had to defeat Sir Isaac Newton in two languages”
Garry
The fin shape is a very basic shape so it would be easy to be a co-incidence
The Concorde stemmed from designs by Sud Aviation and Bristol which were quite similar in overall concept.
Garry
Thanks Richard
I have some pics also of ‘AU looking derelict
Although none of those say where it was taken, the derelict Comets and in one case an Ambassador in the background sort of gives the game away:eek:.
So that leaves G-APAV.
Fortunately none of this alters the original query as it’s demise at that time is without doubt..just the location.:)
