‘Made’ but not designed or developed by China.
TWS?
That’s a good point, even given equal aircraft I would pick the F-35 because of the wider weapon choices available. With Rafale it’s much more limited.
F-106 for the fastest internally-stored grocery trips around.
You mean F-111, or YF-12. Very difficult to land in the car park though, F-35B or Harrier would likely save you time at both ends of the journey.
outside of the US, everyone copies. or some would call “inspired by”. look at B-1 and Tu-160, or F-111 and Su-24, or A-9 and Su-25.
Aside from the fact they all have wings, most aviation enthusiasts will be able to highlight some very distinct differences between all of those, aside from the fact they don’t look anything like each other.
It is mutual. There are just as many copies that go the other way. F 35 and Yak 141 is just the start.
Yeah, no.
a) The Yak-141 has two lift engines that are separate from the main powerplant.
b) Even if it was the same (which it ain’t) using the same engine configuration alone would hardly count as a copy, otherwise every jet aircraft ever built is ripping off Frank Whittle.
Reportedly the first serial Hongdu JL-10 – formerly L-15 – for the PLAAF performed its maiden flight at Nanchang today. Quite interesting it followed closely the first flight of the first aircraft for an export customer – said to be Zambia – on 29. June.

Now that doesn’t look at all like a Yak-130.
I myself am looking to a Mazda 3, a Ford Focus or an Opel Astra, the FIAT Punto is getting too small, those three are much better than a JSF or a Rafale for carrying the groceries and the kid…
The F-35 has internal bays, which would make for a better ride than being strapped to a pylon.
Timing is everything when it comes to countermeasures and evasion. Employing countermeasures straight away would likely leading to their dispersion by the time the missile arrives.
It warns you against targeting mode of the radar, what more are you waiting for? In best case, AIM-54 at a distance of 100km, you got 1 min 20 sec until impact. In case of other missiles you got like 20-30 sec..
Targeting mode doesn’t necessarily mean the missile has left, nor does it provide an ETA. ETA depends on altitude as does speed. At high altitude you would have less than 60s.
The AiM-54 was always described as an OTH weapon.
If both aircraft are at 30,000ft, the horizon is 425 miles away. How could you even lock something at that range if the horizon is in the way.
Hawking is a class.. But I love it how he’s able to admit a defeat.. doesn’t occur very often, though.. Kane of Hick’s Boson, Preskill on black hole’s information paradox, Choptuik on naked singularities is all I can remember..
So he has development bugs too? Well, what do you know? My analogy was better than expected.
Nobody is really interested in your Mk0 glass eye analysis either.
Yes I had seen that, I am also aware that the F35 using 3i or 2B software can only carry 2 AA missiles and 2 1,000lb bombs, not necessarily the load out that is required, I am also aware that there have been reports saying that there are problems with the project, issued by the Pentagon, I am sure the truth is somewhere between the two extremes, quite where on the continuum is the real question that nobody, as far as I know, knows the answer to, hence my response.
A half ready F-35 is still better than a fully ready 4th gen though.
I am not one of ’em.. I just don’t like the F-35..
Many don’t because of how it looks. Hell, I don’t even like how it looks. I don’t much like the look of Stephen Hawking either, he also doesn’t move very fast, but the guy is smart as hell.
