    Looks a bit like a Fairchild, an FC-2 or a 51.

To fill in the details on the Canadian Fireflies: One has been restored and on display at the Shearwater Aviation Museum, Dartmouth Nova Scotia, I think PP462.
The other is awaiting Restoration at the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa (DK545)

    Thanks for the update Dave
Hope we have the opportunity to see the Fox Moth in the air during the year. A nice, low pass over Rockland on your way into Gatineau would about do it for me.

Samuel Langley was another claimant with his machine ‘Aerodrome” for the first powered flight. This had some support from the Smithsonian which led to a feud between Orville Wright (after Wilbur’s death) and the Smithsonian. I believe that this is why the Wright Flyer was housed in the Science Museum London for many years berween the wars.

Lovely pics. Always a pleasure seeing something from Old Warden. Is the Chilton a new build aircraft? I don’t recognize the registration.
    Thanks

Great pics Rob. Wonderful to see a 100 year old plus plane still flying. Long live OW! Nobody does it quite like them.

I last saw the Hurricane at Tillsonburg in 2010. It seemed to have some problems at that time and fired up but did not display.

Lovely pics, particularly of the Leopard Moth (and yesterday’s Hornet Moth), and the Staggerwing.
    Many thanks

    Hi Steve:
I’m standing with you in hoping that at least the Hurricane stays in this part of the world. Hopefully some kind of deal can be worked out with CWH as that is the obvious place for it to go as Vintage Wings already has a Mk Xll.

As for the Me-109, we can only dream. I saw it fly ar Hamilton, 2008 I think. What a thrill!

    Hi Martti:

I remember driving past the Me109 in 1987 on the way to a papermill in the area. I think it was out in the open at that time, and in the middle of winter!

I also spent a day in the excellent museum beside Helsinki airport. Very impressive.

I read in February’s CWH newsletter ‘Flightlines’ today that MAM’s FW190 is slated for the Hamilton A/S, and I believe their Skyraider also.

    Hi Neill:

Sorry been away for a few days.
Do you plan to rent a car? If so Burlington Ontario is a good location midway between Toronto Airport and Mount Hope. Last year we stayed at the Admiral Inn, right beside the QEW / Hwy 403 that will take you most of the way to the show. About 20-30 minutes drive.
If you don’t have a car then I think there are buses from Downtown Hamilton to the show, so you will probably need to stay nearby. There’s nowhere with walking distance to the show that I can think of.
Send me a PM with your email, then we can stay in touch.

    To continue the story:

    Trenton’s Bogus VF582 is RCAF 16670, RAF VP653, c/n 2598, Latterly CF-LWK.
One reference gives this one as 16651, c/n 2558 latterly CF-MMY, re-registered as CF-LWK. I don’t think this can be correct.
The CWH “VF582” is RCAF 16690 (which makes it a T-7); one time C-FKLD. When I was at the Hamilton A/show in 2011 the CWH were showing an AOP.6 in RCAF colours (yellow) with the reg C-GCID. I have no idea of the identity of this one.
