Thanks all for your contributions:
You have it about right Ed:
CASM OTTAWA’s Auster is RCAF 16652, RAF VP629, C/N 2576, latterly CF-KBV. This is the one in Dr John’s picture.

I will be there for sure, but I only have to travel from Ottawa, a mere 500 kms. I have been to most of the Hamilton shows going back to 1975. Will probably be there on the Saturday. Be good to meet up.

Thanks, I had found that already, and that’s about as far as I have got. Some dates would be good, like ‘end of service’ SOC?
cheers

I don’t know about RAF stations but how about Portsmouth and Plymouth (Roborough) airports. It’s still mind boggling as to how the local councils managed to get them closed down.
Back to RAF stations. How about Mountbatten in the ’50’s, even if we only got a Sunderland visit once a week. The sight of one of them touching down on Plymouth Sound as seen ftom the Hoe really is the stuff of memories.
Fond memories of Lindolme (night flying in a Lincoln), Upwood and Abingdon from ATC days, and a Royal Observer Corps camp at West Malling.
Good thread!
Cheers

I really miss Old Warden. The video brought it all back. Thanks for posting.

Congratulations, a worthy project.

Be Glad. If the MOD didn’t copyright it then someone else will. I believe that for example the names “Nessie” & “Wellies” and many other similarly much used names are copyrighted in the US.
The MOD is in a way protecting our heritage.

Great news! Hopefully the B-24 stays out of trouble this year. Now, how about the FW-190.
Thanks for the update

Lovely pics. Liked the Leopard moth. Nice to see a bit of green. Our nearest strip, Rockliffe near Ottawa is currently under 30 cms of the white stuff.

Great Pictures. It will take a while to get through all of them.

How about “The Bridges at Toko-Ri” ? With William Holden. and Mickey Rooney as th batty S-51 pilot. What a great looking plane is the Panther, and the scene with the Skyraiders, wonderful. One of my favourites.
Agree with Andy on “The Battle of the River Plate” The American heavy cruiser (was it the USS Salem?) was a very creditable Graf Spee.

Great pictures. Some familiar, some recent, but a great set.

During my apprenticeship days at Fleetlands we used to make ashtrays out of Centaurus pistons which always seemed to be around by the truckful! They made really big ashtrays.
The big thrill was to crank the lathe up to full speed with the chuck holding the piston by the inside. Occasionally one would jump off the chuck and go madly spinning across the shop floor.
Ah! Happy days.

Nice pics. Loved the Hornet Moth and the Swallow.
Thanks
