How about Lettice Curtiss. Another wonderful writer
Hi:
Thanks to all for the info.
A pity really. It seems that with a little bit of care it could have been a very interesting addition to the airshow circuit, or at least an asset to a museum as a static restoration.
Thanks again
Bill
Thanks for the updates Rob and David. Lovely picture, Rob. Hopefully she will be back in the air soon.
‘DWT was I believe drought to Canada in the1960’s by Father MacGillivray a RCAF Chaplin. I think he passed it on to the EAA museum in Oshkosh, from where I guess it found it’s way back to the UK.
Fr MacGillivray also imported a Puss Moth G-AHLO which I remember well being at Eastleigh, when I used to go ‘Spotting” there in the late ’50’s’ She now resides at the Canada Aviation Museum masquerading as CF-PEI.

I agree with you Circus.
I went to most of the airshows at Old Warden over a 5 year period in the late 60’s early 70’s. Heaven! An incredible venue too!
Having said that though, I was watching a couple of distant Stearmen from the balcony yesterday when a Hurricane & Mustang flying together. passed through my sight at only a few hundred feet. That can’t be bad, can it!
I have a beautiful pic of Hawk Major ‘DWT as my screensaver. It was taken a few years ago Does anyone know if she is still flying ?
Ir’s good to see a Whitney Strait flying again but what about the Monarch? Does any, other than the one in the Scottish museum still exist?

Mike:
Thanks for the update. I guess my source was a little premature!
I am looking forward to seeing it next month when I visit Trenton.

Thanks for the info on Viscount C-FTID. Sounds as though she is down to a fuselage only now, but as you said, clinging to life!

Bill
Nice picture, Thanks for posting it DCP
Does anyone know if C-FETB’s predecessor Viscount C-FTID still exists.
It was with a museum at St Hubert, Quebec about 10 years ago called “Fondation Aerovision Quebec” that has since imploded (I think).

Bill
I went looking for it this morning at Trenton. I’m not sure where it is parked.
The local media usually picks these stories up.
I Picked this item up from the Ottawa Museum’s newsletter.

No, inside. It’s a beaut!
I lived in Montreal a few years back, near the river facing St Hubert where it was based, about 5-6 kms away and couls see it taking off. I don’t think the engines were hush-kitted!
The pilot used to throw it around as if it were a Chipmunk!
Thanks for the interest and the picture
