LM you have it! The Pietenpol Sky Scout. This one was started by a 17 year old Alan Mogg, of Sydney, in 1936, but was not completed and flown until December 1940, mainly due to having to comply with the then Civil Aviation Board’s requirements. It was fitted with a Salmson AD9 engine which required the extended mount to bring the CofG into limits and no doubt, brought about the larger fin and rudder. Again, this Wot was “borrowed” from Keith Meggs’ tome “Australian-Built Aircraft and the Industry”, along with the image below. 🙂

Yes, the airframe does need quite a bit of “help”. I remember it having a “modified” V1650-7 (ie ex- P-51) “crate” engine in it originally when it flew very briefly in Oz and saw the reasons why “crate” engines should be at least bulk stripped before fitting to an airworthy aeroplane.
Yes, a BT-13 – poor thing… 🙁 …..and the B737 is a -300 not a 200.

As a pilot and a LAME with large piston engine experience (including V12’s), the video of the aircraft taxiing off made me wince. End of story!
