The Yowie is a mythical beast, sort of like Bigfoot or Yeties, used to scare little kiddies.
Seriously though, the country being searched is quite rugged and thickly forested, with little or no ground access. My feeling is if the aircraft caught fire, it would’ve been spotted by now, because we are at the end of the dry season and everything is tinder dry. Otherwise, with all the trees, it is going to be very difficult to spot from the air, as the tree canopy could tend to “close over”, with ony a few broken branches betraying the presence of the aeroplane.
There are a large number of search aircraft and helicopters in the area now, with sophisticated search equipment, but I am very concerned now for the safety of people on board. I feel for the families involved.
