Close, but no banana…..
G’Day Tony,
I’ve just had a flick through the stuff I’ve got and it looks like you need drawing 30050 Sheet 17.
I have got Sheet 14G for the mounting of the pump and Sheet 16H for run of the cables for chassis lock control, if you are interested. Don’t have Sheet 17, unfortunately.
Best regards,
Paul
So it’s not Fat Barst@rd then?:D

Thanks for the measurements TT. At least I know what to look for now and I’ll see what turns up.:)
The link to Albert Ball’s windscreen was interesting and useful too.

Yes, I have had a look at the vintage car parts sites before this thread was started, but none that I have seen so far have the nice little “Avro” logo on the bottom that I have just discovered on this thread.
Edit: On the vintage car sites, they are normally listed as “Auster Screens”.

I’ve been looking at my Avian photos and I believe my Mk III was fitted with windscreens of this style. Now you have me thinking if Mssr Avro used surplus 504 windscreens on the Avian. (Arrgh! Something else I am either going to have to find or recreate!:))
Would you be so kind to measure your windscreen and post the dimensions please?
Best regards,
Paul
Happy New Year All!
A big thank you to DCW and all the others who have posted on this thread. Without your collective generosity in posting a pile of very fine photos, a lot of us far flung forumites wouldn’t get to see or hear of the outstanding work that occurs at Duxford.
Happy New Year and I look forward to viewing the new thread.
Best regards,
Paul
Beautiful machines! Thanks for the photos Bill.
Mr Byron Reynolds has sent me a bunch of photos of the Avian taken during restoration and it has turned out a treat.
Best regards,
Paul
Hi Stan,
Thanks for your kind offer. May I email you on your company address?
Best regards,
Paul
G’Day Mark,
I may have a spare Cirrus Mk II Manual, if you are interested. I am looking for an original Cirrus Mk III manual though.:)
If anyone has leads on BTH AG-4 and/or Type SC Magneto Overhaul Manuals, digital or original, I would be most appreciative.
Best regards,
Paul
Excellent! Learn something every day….:D
Sutton Harness per chance? Seeing that they were first fitted to Sopwith Camels and Sopwith became Hawker Engineering in the 20’s.
G’Day Bob,
I have had a quick look and the only reference to the Monoplane I can find is for the steel tube frame, which is also used for the Mk IV M, VI M Sports and Mk V. Mind you, I have found two iterations of the steel frame, basically in the way the forward end of the frame is braced.
Going by what I have seen so far though, the fuselage, tail group and Hermes engine installation are all common to both the biplane and monoplane Avians. One would need to come up with wing drawings, main undercarriage and the bracing of these two items.
Best regards,
Paul
Bvgger!:(
At least no one was hurt.
