Update – there film from Rackheath and around 30mins of colourB&W film with the B24s out of Seething – theres some brilliant ‘on route’ formation shots. Ive never seen any of this stuff before.
With you on that Ewan – with it being advertised Im sure it will of attracted the attention of the CAA!
I would image that the insurers will be taking a great deal of interest in this proposal.
I dont think you’ll have to look very deep to see that this is exactly what we all think it is….
OMG – went past there 2 weeks ago and noticed a few buildings had tiles missing – what a sad mess.
Another great MOD land sell off for a knock down price and promises.
RAF Chaterhall – Scotland. Where a 3 times World Champion Jackie Stewart learnt his trade.
Makes you wonder where British Moror Sport would of been without all the old airfields from WW2!
Someone mentioned a Chipmunk at Long Marston – any idea where that is now?

Packard proberbly leaks less oil!!!
They didnt and when they walked into the aircrew area they were both soaked and both had red chapped faces where the rain had hit them – much respect given from all the aircrew, along with several offers to help them get the wet clothing off!!
The scrapper rings are not as plentiful as they used to be, there are 2 possible types of ring although my understanding is the piston mod part is the same for both. Speak to Phil at Skytrade (01884-860202) who usualy is able to supply most Gipsy engine parts – note: They’re not cheap!
Without trying to be to nosey, what is the aim of your friend in re-building the engine? Be very careful if you believe you can sell it or fit it in an aircraft as a “re-built” engine – If your in the UK Mr CAA wont like that unless your able to get an Authorised Engineer to check and sign the work off.
Oh dear. I think that the insurance company will be asking some rather difficult questions here as it would appear (at this point in time) to be an identical style of landingcrash to the first one. eg Training Program? How much experiance has the pilot got on this type, as in Warbirds? Has he done any back seat time whilst a recognised Spitfire pilot acted as P1?
He could end up in the position where no insurance company will be prepared to underwrite him – for him I hope this wont be the case.
Opppps!! It was Mark V I meant – fingers typing before brain engaged!
Spitfire V is your man, I’ll let him know your requiring assistance.
