    RE: Winglet

hi philB, i’m a pilot on 747-400s and i have also had a spell flying the classics and i can tell you no matter what the books/ web sites tell you winglets do very little indeed, except to say at low speeds esp. on approaches. if anyone has any questions please e-mail me.

    RE: British Airways Tails

being, like most of you maybe, a plane spotter, i was well impressed with the majority of the new 50? fin markings. one airline with 50? different opportunities to shoot each plane was a thrill just thinking about it! but of course BA didn’t really have 50 great schemes did they? a lot were great, a lot were rubbish. the “new” concorde scheme is quite smart though, reminisent of pre-coat of arms livery nearly.

    RE: being new

i was quite sure BA only used it’s 757s on shuttle flights? plus the fact that the 777’s are used on the paris flights makes it a short hauler too, in spite of it’s vast size. (is my knowledge up to date?!) i too would love to see a BA A330/40. what about an A3XX one day, just for laughs!!

    RE: A330 vs B777

some good points, but in saying Boeing have never come out with an elegantly designed a/c since the 727, ain’t you being a bit unfair? of course it’s you right to judge, but the 777’s slope on the cockpit roof? those massive engines strutting forward! it’s a beast of a machine. then there’s the 747-400 and now the 767-400 with the new shaped wings. but the A330-300 is sweet too mate, no arguments there.
