Yes indeed a brilliant show and sorely missed i was a North Weald Squadron member at the time and attended them all.Harvard formation team,Gary Numan playing the baddie in his Jap painted G-AZSC.The Concorde and Vulcan formation flypast, great memories i dont recall why it stopped but in my opinion was a fabulous show at a still much underused and historic venue.

;)Just remember the golden rule “When the weight of the paperwork matches the weight of the aircraft it is finished”.

:)Hi there,it is common brown parcel paper from the post office etc.Use copydex thinly over the foam then stick on (with the gloss paper side outwards) whilst it is still drying paint over the outside with a thin coat of copydex this will soak into the paper and tighten it (like the old tissue and dope days)I then paint with humbrol enamels so you can achieve the same finish as a plastic scale model.Be careful if you want to paint the foam only use acrylics.A trick is to apply the paper in panels as the full size aircraft and to overlap the edges by a few mm this really looks good especially cowlings etc.Its tough yet light, and is easily repaired.I hope this helps.

Around 30 – 35 years ago, as a less than 10 year old enthusiast, we used to travel to London once or twice a year, by Train, on the London Liverpool Street Line.

I always remembered looking out of the train window at around Wickford, as we headed back to Southend. On the north side of the tracks, in a field on it`s own was a memorial of some sort. It was a white painted prop, and i think it was surrounded by a fence. It was very remote and not near the town, as it was then.

I`m wondering if its still there ? And indeed if it was near Wickford. Just wondered if anyone new, Google Earth shows nothing, apart from a New Industrial estate, with names such as Hurricane Way, and Sopwith Close.

    Thanks…in advance.

    Jamie

I think from memory it was a 4 blade prop surrounded by a white fence. It was between Wickford and Rayleigh. I believe it was in memory of an airship crash but cannot be certain.
