He was challenged by armed police and tried to escape.
From what I’ve seen here, the man was actually subdued and THEN shoot.
I don’t know how Scotland Yard does things, but here when a suspect is subdued, kicking or hitting him is a major no no, let alone pumping 5 bullets into him.
Why is everyone being so quick to “shoot down” the police after they said he was unconnected to the Bombing Attacks?

They chased him down, kicked him down, held him down, and killed him with 5 shots to the head and torso.

We also have the regions MOST powerful anti-tank capabilities with 150 HJ-8 launchers and 150 TOW launchers.
I think you have the most poweful imagination personally.
What’s to argue about anyhow? The Serbian military is an honest to goodness no nonsense military, no matter how degraded is has become from combat and sanctions.
The same cannot be said of Albania’s military.
Here we go: AFM, August 2004, page 10, Overhaul of SCG aircraft in Russia. The article goes on to talk of discussions about a possible MiG-29 refurbishment/overhaul not an upgrade. That being said I’d agree with you that scrapping the MiG-29 and going for a full blown MiG-21 upgrade, as opposed to a mere MiG-29 overhaul, sounds more sensible. Just as an example, the MiG-21 Lancer seems to be working reasonably well for Romania.
The way RSK Mig handled the Bulgarian contract was probably noted in Belgrade. Even still, more to the point the relatively small Serb Mig-29 fleet probably wouldn’t cut it. Why put one’s eggs into the same, small basket when there are the more numerous Mig-21’s which can be upgraded (a la Lancer) and provide reasonable detterent numbers as well as airframes for spares etc?
No no Fantasma, let him continue with this line. Maybe his cousins will believe that Greece is poor and go back to ‘rich’ Albania (and take their cousins and their cousins etc back with them).
In fact, check the man’s IP, we might be surprised.
😀
Bla bla bla F-16’s from Turkey, bla bla bla Leopard 2’s from Germany. Bla bla bla.
If any of you want to buy some parts of the soon to be “dominant power in the region”, think fast as the fire sale is on.

Shqippy, take your phantasies and be gone to some Shqippy forum to pound your chest with tales of F-16’s and Leopard 2’s.
You’re spending virtual money which doesn’t exist.

We surely do not wanna go that far.. It’s not worth the funds you’d have to cover, looking at your arguments, believe me. Try it with Foxalpha…
Hey. Leave the smartarseness somewhere else and next time post the relevant copyright information when you post a picture.
And my friend, despite recent Turkish refusal over the American request to launch an invasion from their territory, the Turks have been very pro-US in comparison to Greece.
Well what good are strategic interests if you are unable to use them?
And the Turkish people don’t seem to be any warmer for the war in Iraq than say, France.
I still do NOT think Greece needs any new fighters, Mirages and F-16s for now will be enough.
Yes for now the new orders of F-16’s and Mirage’s are indeed enough to maintain a credible air defence. But….
In around 2010 timeframe, yes there will be a lot of fighter to be replaced, Mirage F1s, F-4s, A-7s and WHATEVER.
The F1 is already history for over 3 years now. But, yes, the A-7’s and F-4’s will need to be withdrawn by 2010-2012. A replacement needs to be arriving by then. This is what this competition is for. The aircraft which will replace these machines. Don’t look for a decion until at least 2007-2008, especially considering the coming austerity measures. A reasonable in service date of 4-5 years later.
I would right now focus on SAMs and such.
Greece has recently completed delivery of PAC-3’s and Tor-M1’s, and is in the process of receving it’s HUMMER mounted ASRAD systems. This as well as the already upgraded HAWK missiles.
Now imagine Greece sticking a S-400 battery, on Samothraki, Khios and Rhodes Islands, and there you have virtually a SAM shield to protect whole of Greece.
There are Patriots and SA-8’s in the Aegean and S-300’s ‘somewhere’ on Crete.
I also feel that Greece needs some tankers and such, it may not be able to protect Cyprus well enough with it’s shorter ranged M2Ks and F-16s well enough
Yes the EPA has a longstanding requirement for tankers. However the ‘humped’ BLK52+’s are based on Crete with units detached to Kastelli on eastern Crete. So the situation for longer range ops over and near Cyprus is somewhat better.
I think Greece is certainly concerned about recent developments with the US over neighbouring “macedonia” and issues with Turkey, and may choose to snub the US over future purchases,
Preceisely. Look for fewer and fewer American contracts in the future. The time to move away from America’s is NOW.
Due to the recent budget issues with the EU, I wouldn’t expect any choice before about 2008.
Personally, Rafale all the way!
Maybe. Do you rember the reaction of China, when US-troops came close to Yalu 1950? 😉
True. But I doubt China had much appetite for conflict with the U.S during the early-mid 70’s.
I’m sorry but $600 million is too much to pay for so few units.
