I don’t like it. Perhaps it would look better to me if it had a different tail. It just looks odd with the standard dark color on the rudder with the rest a bright metallic.

Great pictures! What airline operates the 727?

Now I bet those girls get a good frisking when they go through the airport security.

It seems everyone’s support has silenced the Bahnhaus experience here in the Commerical Aviation section. Thanks. 🙂

However there is a private F-100F N26AZ, registered to El Greco Air Inc. El Paso, Tx. (David Tokoph, Aero Zambia CEO). That’s, as you say, a real private jet, but with a backseat for the wife! Unlike the D-model you photographed.

(Sorry for the scanning. It is from a Danish book and the photographer is James C. Bates)

    Best Regards

My picture was taken in Iowa but I can’t believe that there are too many F-100’s in private hands. If a batch of them came out of the Toledo unit then perhaps the Iowa aircraft was one of them.

Even though I would probably kill myself in it, an F-100 would be one sweet jet to have in your own hangar.

I still can’t believe that Hooters of all places has an airline. I remember when I first heard the rumblings of the start of their operation and never thought it would last. I guess there are enough single guys out there that are interested in flying their planes. 🙂 Now if the rest of the airline would bring back the mini skirt then perhaps they’d see the same success. Actually, they’d have to rethink their hiring practices before I’d care to see a lot of these flight attendants in a mini. 😮

    a V9-C is basically a DC-9-32 aircraft.

Is that the model/version that is called the Nightinggale? Or perhaps that name would better suit a Medical aircraft I guess.

I’ve seen a number of pictures of similar cargo aircraft that are also referred to as 744. The passenger version has the extended upperdeck but this cargo version does not. Are these truly 744’s or converted 741/742’s?

On a similar note, are there any easy ways to tell a difference between a 741 and a 742? The joke I’ve heard is that if it has a brown tail (UPS) then it’s a 741. 🙂

I haven’t seen any other aircraft other than the 707/757/747/G3’s in that livery but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t others I guess. I remember seeing other biz jets and turboprops used by the government but I can’t remember if any of them were painted as such.

I’ve only seen high up military officials and government folks use that fleet. The president uses the 747 as his main ride and would probably only use something smaller if the destination had operational limitations (too small of a runway) but that’s something I’ve never seen done. The VP uses the 757 primarily. The only reason I can see the VP or Secretary of Defense needing such a large aircraft is not for themselves but because of the large group that follows them around. Throw in a handful of reporters, support staff, crew members and other odds and ends of PR stuff and they can fill up a 757 pretty quickly.

Just FYI, any USAF aircraft that the President flies in is called Air Force 1. The 747 (VC-25a) is only called that when he’s on board and uses another generic call sign when he’s not. If he were to fly in a F-16, that aircraft would be called Air Force 1. The same holds true for the other branches of the service. When he flew onto the aircraft carrier last year the Navy aircraft used the callsign Navy 1. The flight on the Marine helicopter to the White House is referred to Marine 1. The VP gets the Air Force/Marine/Navy/etc. 2 callsign. There is a callsign if either were to fly a civilian aircraft but I can’t remember what it is. Someone told me about it years ago but have since forgotten it.

    Great pic.

I would never care for the corporate lifestyle but I would love to get behind the wheel of a G3 or G4 or even the mighty G5 for a few hours. They are one sleek aircraft.
