We had asked for the USA assistance long before this but at that moment in history it was not in the USA’s best interest..
So we fought on largely alone..
If I’m not mistaken the US Congress passes the Lend-Lease Act about the time of the Battle of Britain allowing $7 billion of weapons and supplies to Britain. Not enough for ya? Remember that $7 Billion of weapons in 1940’s dollars.
I don’t know what you attempted to accomplish by bashing the US involvement in WW2. Considering it was a war that never took place in the USA, wasn’t within 1000’s of miles of our homes for the most part, we did quite a bit.
Or we can turn it around? Where was Britian when Poland was invaded? How about France and they are only a Channel away?
Not much accomplished by that is there? Second guessing the actions of old men 60 years ago does nothing. Bashing a country now for it does even less. Grow up!
If you read an American history book you’ll find out that John Wayne and Charlton Heston were our greatest war hero’s and they fought on all front in a branches of the services. 😛
The Fat Cat’s are still getting fatter. The bonuses are still there but not as big. If you’re putting 30% of your employees on the street, there shouldn’t be any bonus for anyone.
I talked to A320 First Officer last week and she said that they are looking at another 600 pilot furloughs this year. I think a majority of the financial gains have been made on the backs of the employees not due to good business sense.
Great collection of links. Thanks for sharing.
(that movie is great:D )
It’s a result of the Wright & Shelby Amendments that are referenced on the Southwest Airlines website. Basically when the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport was built the city wanted the majority of the traffic out of that airport. An agreement was passed between the city and the airport for traffic to be moved to DFW. Two amendments were passed (due to the fact that Southwest decided to stay at Dallas Love) that limited the destinations out of Dallas Love to the bordering states with the hope that only regional service and airlines would operate out of there, leaving the larger carriers to fly out of DFW.
From what I’ve found this only applies to aircraft >56 seats which means the booming “regional” jet service isn’t affected by this.
I hope this answers your question.
Now that is one LOUD livery.
Go here and all your questions will be answered. Just search by the airport ID and you’ll find out more information than you’ll ever want.

the allied troops looted and trashed
Last time I checked the US isn’t the only “allied” force. The Allies won WWII so I guess if you want you can give us the entire credit for that too.
Very sad. They always seem to happen in groups of 3’s. First the He111, now the Firefly. Let’s hope the string of accidents is broken this time.
The highest paid in the US is a 777 captain at Delta at roughly $319 US per hour for a 12 year captain in 2004. Now it’s tough to say what someone’s salary is at a particular pay rate as there are many other factors that determine how much someone’s annual salary will be. A rule of thumb is you take the hourly pay rate and multiply it by 1000. That puts the Delta 777 captain at about $319,000 a year.
At the other end of the pay scale a EMB-145 or CRJ First Officer can be found making $18,000 US a year. Quite a difference. The small jet operators can have their captains making $45,000 a year or less.
Before airline deregulation here in the US back in the 1970’s an airline captain could afford to buy a new Cadillac every month. That would be similar to a captain making $40,000 a month or nearly $500,000 a year today. That doesn’t happen at all.
