It looks like that one picture answers the question of where the ex-Air Wisconsin Avro’s ended up.
Errrrrmmmm….. in Lagos, Whiskey Delta. 😀
Boy I feel like an idiot. I swear I read that line a few times but my brain never caught it. That’s what I get for posting tired. 🙂
I’ve heard the same complaint about the 737’s regarding the FA’s and temperature control. We can slave the temperature control to the FA control panel by their jumpseat so they can play with it to their hearts content. If for whatever reason they are having trouble managing the temperature as some aircraft don’t cooperate we can take control back and set it up front. Then we are called every 30 minutes or so with a new request especially after a climb or start of the decent when the engine power settings are greatly changed.
Cute girl.
I’m curious too if flight crew can take advantage of the service. That should would help on those long flights I’m sure.
More around the cockpit and cabin shots please. i’d like an idea of how much space there is in there.
I’ll try and get a FA to pose for some scale. If I stand in there it’ll look like a toy with my 6’6″ frame. 🙂
(‘Terrain terrain!’)
Perhaps you didn’t hear it right, I think it would say “De Plane, De Plane”. 🙂
Interesting pictures, where were they taken?
Interesting, I’d never thought about the vertigo side of things. When I’m going through Africa I fly with every light Airbus fitted switched on full brightness. I trust nobody down there!
I don’t know if it’s because of our shorter fuselage but we often turn off the strobes in night IMC. The beacon is still annoying but we can’t turn it off without getting an EICAS message so we just deal with that.
What altitudes do you turn on/off your exterior lights? We recently switched to using FL180 as the point where we turn on/off the landing and logo lights. Before we used 10,000′ but I guess FL180 is more the norm so we switched over.
More please (and more tech ones please)!
Anything in particular? I take requests. 🙂
Some closeup shots of the A340 would be nice as well. How about the landing gear system? I’ve never gotten close up to the big Airbus’ and would like to see the 3rd main setup.
I met 2 of the guys that built it last month. They are currently about to start building a Handley Page HP42!!!!!!!! Probably my favourite commercial aircraft of all time and one I’d dearly like to have a flight in.
Those classic airliners are quite eligant in a bizarre way. The HP42 sure would look great flying overhead.
Is that the same as the Embraer?
Yes, we have a switch on the overhead panel.
I’m suprised that any operator opts not to install the logo lights. At night it can be nearly impossible to spot an unlit aircraft at an airport (not to mention the free advertising). The more lights the better IMO.
Canadians are very important to Cuba and Canada and Mexico are the way Americans get to Cuba to avoid the embargo.
Actually a few US carriers operate charter flights out of Florida to Cuba, with Continental being one of them.
I don’t know if this is such a good idea. I understand this is a replica but what are the chances that someone will bother to build a replacement if it should go down during this flight? Pretty slim if you ask me. Sure, every flight as a bit of risk involved but why push the envelope with such a rare bird? How many classic warbirds and antique aicraft have we lost due to folks pushing the envelope? It would be a greater loss to have no flyable aircraft than plenty of flyable aircraft operating in a more subdued manner.
I would rather see them operate more stringently to help insure decades of future flights rather than risk it on 1 or 2 long flights just with the hopes of matching a previous achievement.
Aguascalientes does in fact mean warm (or hot) water. I guess it was named that after the local hot springs. I’m suprised they were able to find something to name the town after as there is NOTHING for quite a while out there. Not really high on my vacation destination list.
Does Virgin use/have logo lights on all their aircraft? I think it’s Delta here in the States that doesn’t have them installed, perhaps a few other operators as well.
