If so, a shot for you, really does show how UA dominate ORD!
Strange comment considering there isn’t a single UA aircraft in the picture. 🙂
Air Wisconsin recently ended their business with UA and will be shifting their operations over to US. Soon Air Wisky won’t be in ORD.
edit: I looked at the picture again and UA is in there. The top of a TED A320 tail is visible way in the back. 😀
Wow, those guys are close. Great picture BTW.
US Airways currently employs 30,100 people and America West employs 14,000 people. Contract integration of represented employees is expected to occur after integrated seniority lists have been negotiated between each respective airline’s labor groups.
Meaning: If you work for US Airways prepare to be really, really disappointed.
This merger will end up being uglier than the American/TWA for the employees involved.
I read it that they are going to have thousands of names on the side. No matter, I signed up. I wonder how many Chuck Yeagers or Johnnie Johnsons they’ll get. 🙂 Sir Richard Branson would also be a good entry. 😀
Well, the market has closed and no news of the US/AWA merger yet.
Word is that US Airways will be the name that will be used since it has a larger brand recognition. America West will be the majority owner but they’ll change names.
Infromation I recieved was from a BA concorde Engineer

Such a manuever would be a story of legend such as the Dash 80 event which should mean that such information would be well documented but it doesn’t seem to be for the Concorde. The Concorde is a legendary aircraft which has had every aspect of it’s history closely watched, how could it be that such an amazing manuever could escape every fan website or publication?
For that reason it casts a large amount of doubt. There always seems to be one or 2 “experts” or “higher ups” that have stories like this but they never seem to be from the folks involved. There is an interview with Tex Johnson where he talks about his flight. No matter what credentials someone has it doesn’t give their story validity unless they were there.
Thanks for the confirmation WD. The Dash 80 is in great condition there. How is the museum accessible from the terminal area?
I drove up from Baltimore so I’m not 100% sure but I believe there is a shuttle that runs between IAD and the museum every 30 minutes or hour. I’m going off my poor memory when I was looking into traveling there last year.
Everything in that museum is in stunning condition which is nice to see. The Smithsonian folks really know how to treat their collections.
I believe the ICAO/FAA issue the 2 letter codes. Most don’t make sense at all which would indicate that airlines don’t get to pick their codes.
You’re right, it’s the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. I can’t recommend it enough if you find yourself in the DC area. I went about a year ago and they had only about half of their aircraft inside but it was still a great collection.
I have a few pictures of the Concorde and 707 parked outside before they were moved inside.
I agree, I find it rather unbelievable that they rolled the Concorde. Perhaps if there was a published interview with the complete flight crew who performed this manuever I would be willing to believe it.
Plenty of proof for the Tex Johnson barrel roll though.
Nice pictures but I believe that first aircraft is a Bombardier Global Express, not a G550.
Damn, you caught me. 😀
When you were inverted, was there a possibility of crashing into Lady Liberty?
I didn’t hit it but I don’t believe that the sim. recognizes collisions with those objects.
Not forget. A constanat strong headwind would require less flap due to the lower landing speed.
dme
Not true. A strong headwind will lower the ground speed but the aircraft still has the same Indicated Airspeed and will use the flaps appropriate regardless. Some aircraft can use reduced flaps in gusting conditions no matter the headwind/crosswind component.
I’m guessing by the amount of sand(*) on the ground that the fuel tank on the A319 was ruptured. The pilots must have been swimming in Jet A. Ugh.
*I’m sure it’s not sand but some sort of absorbant material but I didn’t know what else to call it.
