I thought the 7E7 wasn’t a viable aircraft type? 😉

Are those Il-62M’s I see in your picture?
Congrats on the landmark BTW. 🙂

Pictures seem to be down.
Let me throw a spanner in the works; What about the person who is in the cockpit who operates the parking brake at an appropriate time?
Given the height of the cockpit there is a good chance that the cockpit crew can’t even see the tug during a pushback (I don’t know, I’ve never been in an A330). A standard procedure is to have established communications between the cockpit and ramp crews. Without a ground person announcing “Set Brakes” the cockpit crew would assume that everything is normal.
Great report and pictures. I particularly like seeing pictures of the 732 reversers in action as well as a picture of your “reading material.” Nice work. 😀
Would you feel the same way about any and all US citizens suspected of having contributed to, or supported, the IRA or Noraid being banned from entry to the UK, though?
Better to be safe than sorry, after all…….
Yes I would. Each country has unique threats it must address. I would hope that other countries would support such preventative measure rather than just pass judgement since they can’t appriciate the situation.
Actions speak louder than words I guess. If he says one thing but gives money to organizations with questionable intentions it somewhat negates his noble comments. Better be safe than sorry they say.
No one’s looking for simpathy here but I haven’t found understanding at a short supply on either side of the pond. It just seems that you’ve based your comments on stereotypical “Americanisms” rather than truly understanding an issue.
Rather than question the US judgement to send him back to the UK why not question why he was permitted to board in the first place. What would you expect any country to do when a suspected terrorist or supporter tries to fly in?
Great pictures! Thanks for the 1900D pictures, they sure bring back memories. My last flight on 550 was 8/20/01. I had only 10 more days on the 1900D after that flight.
And you answer your question, Yes that is the southern end of Manhattan in your picture on approach to EWR.
I know I’ve seen more but never captured it. Here’s the best I can do, the FedEx ramp in Memphis. Looks like there 25 aircraft there.
Remember those codes are for the use of industry not for the convience of the public. 2 letter codes for marker beacons, 3 letter codes for VOR’s, 4 letter codes for airports (convention drops the first letter most times) and 5 letter codes for navigation fixes. A small change of adding 2 or 3 letters to an airport ID would throw off every navigation computer system out there, on the ground and in the airplane. So rather than change every computer in existance I think the 3 or 4 letter codes will stay.
For those in the know, every airport ID is intuitive to a certain extent as long as you know the history behind it.
