Moving her to Kemble, Scampton , or wherever, forget it!!. She can’t be taken apart where she is, there are literaly no facilities at all. no power, water, air, workshop , storage. it would take a team of 4-5 experienced Lightning guys 3 months of weekends, with a caterpillar, tractor etc, to get one apart with all the facilities at hand.
dont worry she will be getting some help.
I was involved in moving a lightning once ( by dismantling) there was 7 of us allexperiened it took 7 days to do the move and 3 months of weekends to put her back together and was without bring her back to life (museum only) and that was with all the right tooling aswell
Cool good to see Hunter flying again so do they have 8 hunters but only two flying?
James
only two was requested by Duxford
I might be wrong, but I believe they belong to Delta Jets, based at Kemble. Certainly Delta own Hunters and Gnats.
The Hunter’s come from Hunter Flying based at Exeter just 2 of the 8 flyers at the mo lol
What about the next big thing a Gannet ????
Looks like the late great Baz Livesley in picture number 8 Andy.
It is Mr Lightning a great man sadly missed
Could be there with 573

My fellow Dutchman….
Take a look at http://www.henkheli.fotopic.net/p41168686.html . Yes, the lettering has been painted somewhat too thin but I’d say this is photo-proof (even in these days of photoshopping!).
(After some more searching…) Even better, look at

Rumour has it the SKHV, the RNLAF’s Historic Flight Association is preparing to bring a Dutch Hunter back to groudrunning ablility and that ex-Hunter crews have been trained recently in England. Also Starfighter activities were mentioned. Can anyone confirm ?

The other Hunter was the subject of my visit – Northern Lights’ Hunter F.58 C-GZIC which was making a short visit to the UK from a location in mainland Europe.
Where is this Hunter based?
She’s based in France with her sister ship operated and maintained by Hunter Flying Club, She came down to Exeter from VL for a couple of days and went back yesterday (sat) some more pics at http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=68448
