F3Hadlow, that must have been a sight to see those RN chaps’ faces when they returned to find their Lynx up on blocks!
Indeed 😀 But like I say I’ve only heard the story so i may have got some of the details wrong. But I know something was done to the lynx anyway!
Brilliant shots all around, especially the first one, the F-16 banking right. You’ve outdone yourself!
Thank You 😮 Anyone want to see any more? 😉 :p
Fingers Crossed the Seahawk and Fury can manage a full season in 2005 😀
Same from me guys 🙂 Keep up the good work y’all 🙂
Very Good Stuff 🙂
Virtually all shows in the UK have crowd barriers around the aircraft them tho.
mmitch.
At Waddington those barriers are infamous :p :p
People seem quite sensible to me usually. the only thing I see being vandalised at airshows is my own personal space when these kids just push their way in front of you with no regard! However I heard that when the RN Lynx from the ship HMS Newcastle visited the local primary schools in the Newcastle area during this ships visit to the tyne that the kids in one school actually graffited it and stole a wheel! It didn’t visit my school though and we’re well behaved students here! 🙁 (I am not in primary school by the way I am in High School!)
Well i know Waddo reopens on the 4th of January so the base should be open at least on that particularly Thursday which is the 6th. I have no idea on what you might specifically see though.
Excellent photos, what camera do you use ?
Canon EOS10d
Thanks a lot for the kind comments 🙂
So you want faster shutter speeds to capture fast-moving objects like aircraft then?
Yes thats correct. The faster the speed the less the chance of blur.
Somebody explain to the uneducated what all this f5.6 and f2.8 stuff means. by uneducated, I mean me 😀
It’s like a funnel, the larger the hole at the bottom the more fluid gets through and faster the smaller and narrower the hole the less and slower fluid gets through. In camera terms its measured in f stops so therfore the smaller the hole the larger the f number is ie f22 the larger the hole is the smaller the f number ie f2.8 therfore more light gets on to the film equating to faster shutter speeds. Hope that all makes sense 😀
you dont mind loosing two stops ? its a beautiful lense you have and very fast why do you want to loose the 2 stops?
I don’t intend using the 2x converter at everywhere I go. At places like Breighton, Newcastle, Leeming etc 200mm is perfectly sufficient for close enough shots. The converter is only for use at airshows. My old 75-300 USM MKII was stuck at f5.6 or f4 depedning on focal length whatever, the difference with using a converter on the 70-200 means i can choose whether or not i have to work at 5.6 and always have 2.8 as an option. Also it gets me up to 400mm at less cost than buying a 100-400 IS.
Hope that makes sense lol!
why did you go for the 70-200 ? will 112-320 equivilence be enough for airshows?
I am also getting a 2x Converter for it as well so that should make it sufficient.
Camera Used is a Canon EOS10d
What kind of zoom lens do you use? I’m contemplating getting a new digital camera, one that better captures fast moving and distant aircraft.
Well for all of those photographs i used a 75-300USM MKII lens. However I have now just got a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 for christmas so all shots in 2005 will be taken with this lens. But yes for those shots i used a 75-300USM MKII lens.
Hope This Helps 🙂
What kind of camera were you using? Was it digital?
And if you meant that question to me yes my camera was digital it’s a Canon EOS 10d.
