got to see my GF today so that deffinatly brought a smile to my face
Mercedes confirm that it was a front wing failure that caused Lewis Hamilton’s crash. Here’s what the Briton, in his second year with the team, had to say: “For me it’s an incredibly positive start to be the first car out on track and completing a good number of laps.
“Other teams have been going out for single-lap runs, starting a few hours after we had first hit the track, so to have started running through our test programme was very encouraging.
“The car feels quite good, especially considering it’s so early in our programme, so overall it’s been a positive day. Of course, it’s unfortunate to end the day early when everyone has worked so hard and we had looked like easily completing the most mileage of anyone here today, but we’ll make that track time back and it’s better to have these things happen now than in Melbourne.”
lewis hamilton has crashed in testing, he went off at turn one due to somthing failng on the car, mercedes said they will investigate the overall cause after rebuilding the car, they are hopeing to get back out before the end of the day
so the tests are under way with the recovery truck haveing done the most testing after 3 red flags in just over two hours
All quiet on the circuit once again but a bit of breaking news to bring you. McLaren have confirmed the appointment of Eric Boullier as the team’s racing director.
Boullier resigned as Lotus’ team principal last Friday.
A McLaren statement reads: “Working with Jonathan Neale (chief operating officer) and his senior colleagues within McLaren racing, Eric will ultimately report to the chief executive officer of McLaren Racing, an all new position, whose yet to be appointed occupant will in turn report to Ron Dennis.”
day two of testing is well under way with many teams already doing their instilation laps and some drivers doing some timed laps with four times being set which are as follows:
jensom button : 1:38.944
kimi raikonen : 1:39.148
sergio perrez : 1:41.444
estiban gutierrez : 1:44.610
obviously these times do not mean much but this is just an idea of the lap times being set
finally we see the marrusia and from i have seen its the best looking car this year, but it was only a single photo which didnt fit quite the whole car in so will not judge till we get a full picture
there is only really one way in which they could ban that and that would be to ban anything that distracts the driver from driveing as well which effectively would mean kids them selves would be banned from the car as would radios, food, even all the buttons because all of it, they couldnt just suddenly ban only smoking because it has been done for years and it is private property so technically they would have to do it for everything.
so red bull are not going to take back to the track today meaning a measly total of only 13 laps over two days of training for the renault powered team, they have said they should be running again tommorow, but im not going to beleave anything till they get atleast 20 laps tommorow. the mclaren seems to be running well with magnussen behind the wheel currently after taking over from button who ran this morning. the ferrari and force india appear to be running well as well. and by the sounds of it we will be getting our first look at the new marrusia car shortly as their driver has his suit on and helmet in hand as he goes into the garage
Michael Schumacher is slowly being brought out of an induced coma following last month’s skiing accident, his manager says.
“Michael’s sedation is being reduced in order to allow the start of the waking up process which may take long time,” Sabine Kehm confirms.
“For the protection of the family, it was originally agreed by the interested parties to communicate this information only once this process was consolidated.”
I’ll take this lull on the circuit as an opportunity to point you in the direction of story that led the BBC Sport website overnight and that is Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone wants to extend his controversial double-points scheme to the last three races of the season.
It has been introduced for the final grand prix of the season in Abu Dhabi, but now Ecclestone has written to the teams saying he wants to extend it to the two preceding races, in the USA and Brazil.
surely they cannot do this
red bull have left the test early after completeing only 20 laps over the four days of testing, they do however say they got enough information to fix the problems they are having by the next test in bahrain in just over two weeks time
