Goodbye John
Good bye John, and I was only looking for you at the museum on Saturday! John always had time for a chat where ever he was working.
Wow!
That looked radical! Loads of lift about – all they had to do was slow down to use it . Most worrying – the guy was wearing shorts!!!! If he had “landed out” he would have been dead in hours from Hypothermia.
Charity Day
I will be there on both days with the SF25C and Queenie
Tiger towing
Gaxan, that suprises me. Although knowing the square root of b**ger all about aerodynamics I would have assumed that, although heavier, the modern glider (or should we call them sailplanes?) was far more efficient/aerodynamic and, once on the move, would have been easier to tow.
Roger Smith.
I tow using either a Rallye 180 or a Pawnee 235, and there are some gliders that can only be towed using the Pawnee with any degree of safety or climb performance,A tiger would be completley out of the question.
70/75 kts is required on tow with a heavy glass ship and a Tiger is hard pushed to do that staright and level without anything on the back!! 50/55 kts is a sensible speed for the lighter vintage gliders and is quite do- able for a Tiger, but who wants to thrash their precious Tiger towing gliders for marginal financial (if any) gain?
Tiger towing
I think that there is a Tiger at Bidford still used for Glider towing. I investigated the possibility of getting approval to tow with my Tiger but it was completley cost prohibitive. The Tiger has a marginal towing performance even with the lighter vintage wooden gliders and would really struglle with todays heavy glass ships.
Thanks chaps!
this is mine.

Have a look at http://www.fffoundation.co.uk
Power Lines
Pat told me that she did not see the lines in time, there was a low grey overcast and the grey power lines merged into the gloom. She saw them at the last moment, pitched up but caught the tail wheel on one. Pat flies at this show every year, unlucky this time!
ZS DEC Crash
You will all be pleased to know that Pat Evans is recovering in hospital after surgery today to mend some broken bones in her face. I have spoken to Pat via SMS and to her daughter by phone.
Prentice
I flew Prentice KL out of Henlow some years ago. Built like the Forth Road bridge and flew like it too. The best thing you can do with a Prentice is grow tomatoes in it!!
