Back to the subject of the thread please guys. Plenty of forums out there if you want to debate the pros and cons of the NHS.
The aircraft that was being restored to fly was owned by Jonathon Whaley and was sold to Solent Sky in Southampton who have done a wonderful job of hiding it and making no progress.
I’m sure anything there is useless but it does seem like a reasonable excuse to bulldoze Birmingham. After all without removing the city how could we get accurate geophysics results. The resultant clear area could then be redeveloped into a facility to restore, store and operate all of the spitfires that will undoubtedly be found over the next few years.
Roll on the AL2O3 airforce.

1992 30 years ago? Holy crap I must be 40 in a couple of weeks.
Does Canada even need the F-35 considering they are sandwiched between Alaskan F-22’s and their siblings to the south along with all of the US F-35’s that will come online in the next few years? If you get desperate in 15-20 years buy up some second hand USAF examples as later block machines come online.
Just a seperate thought but I bet LM has put in a hidden kill code so any foreign F-35 could be disabled if its operator ever became hostile 🙂 a friend of mine was a high level programmer for BAE systems until last summer and I know similar things have been done before.
A single engined type has never really been suited for RCAF use. The simple fact is that while most bird ingestions in the CF-18 would result in a return to base and an engine swap the same incident in the 35 would likely result in the loss of the airframe and a pilot with a significant chance of lasting injuries due to ejection. A loss rate of 3-6 airframes a year due to bird ingestion would seem unacceptable to me given the unit cost of the aircraft.
Would the silent eagle not be an option or are the operating costs too high?
Well now that the MoD actually own an airframe and with BAE systems being a major RIAT sponsor it wouldn’t seem unreasonable. Besides it wouldn’t do any harm to show what our tax £ are buying given all of the less than positive press coverage the F-35 has received over the past few years.
The B is an impressive piece of kit and its VTOL performance and pure noise making ability would be a show stealer.
I wonder if all the over stamping matches up indicating that they were stamped by the same machine? 😉

That link has the contact telephone numbers for the Pakistani defence ministers office etc.
Does anyone have a large crate and a couple of excavators?
I’m excited about the Gannet as I have never seen one fly. I am worried about the Vixen, I miss seeing it over my house and I’d love to see a Javelin but its never going to happen. Oh and a Typhoon please Mr Allen, it’s just pocket change 🙂
Could be a locally fitted air scoop to give the rear seat occupant a little relief from the African heat?
Two words settle that argument, nuclear submarine.
Maybe after the pullout from Afghanistan the world will stop pussyfooting around Pakistan and realise that it’s more foe than friend. A strategic realignment with India would make sence in the long run.
