If that is even close to the truth (and if by “supersonic” he means comfortably in excess of Mach 1) we might be looking at an aircraft meant to replace both the Su-27 and MiG-31 in one fell swoop. It would also explain the somewhat curious absence of certain RCS reduction measures and the variable intakes (you don’t need those to occasionally hit Mach 2.0 in a short dash, but if you expect to operate at or near Mach 2.0 on a regular basis they’ll certainly pay off).

don’t tell that to the chinese aviation kiddies, it’ll ruin their DSI dreams.

2 more Su-30MK2s delivered to Indonesia.

Two more Sukhoi fighter jets arrive

more sukhois but still no weapons? how do they plan to fight in them? going Chinese style and ramming them into enemy aircraft?

2nd hand from Russia, deliveries commencing in 90s

True, they went through extensive overhaul at WZL (IIRC).

thx for info and the pictures. i know i’ve been harsh on the Fulcrum, but its nevertheless a really nice looking bird and sad to see it rot away like that.
so back to Serbian Fulcrums that were refurbed. why are they grounded.. is it simply financial issues or refurb wasn’t good enough?

I much prefer the Historic section, people know what they’re talking about on there…

its a bit unfair to compare the two.

historic aircraft have been around for a long time, have almost no new development, and have been dissected in and out. lots of information on their performance and uses
modern aircraft are still ongoing and fueled by speculation

With the introduction (either in prototype or production form) by several nations of aircraft that have stealth characteristics in terms of radar detection, how long will it be until the advent of visual stealth al la James Bonds Aston Martin Vanquish…or “Vanish” as “Q” terms it…comes to pass? The technology to conceal a tank by creating an optical illusion through the use of cameras and special surfaces has already been demostrated but I doubt the technology behind it could cope with an aircraft moving a supersonic or even high subsonic speed. This would however:

1). Offer an advantage to an aircraft during a visual fight…providing heat sources can also be concealed of course.

2). Prove highly useful to ground attack aircraft in such low intensity conflicts as Afghanistan. An insurgent may hear the aircraft but wouldn’t see it until rocket/bomb release, or imagine how effective an invisible AH-64/Mi-28 would prove to be (again so long as heat sources could be concealed)

Just a thought.

Serbia allying with Albania is more likely than your visual stealth fighter.
you should contact topspeed, he could design it for you.

So you seem to suggest Serbia should ally itself with Albania to re”conquer” Kosovo…which has a mainly Albanian population…ok. great plan there. how old are you seriously because you come across as a teenager who has no idea the way the world works. You say the “time to strike” for Serbia against places such as Croatia and Macedonia is now because they will eventually join NATO! Last time I checked, NATO is more than happy to lend its support to non-NATO members. You do know it was NATO that bombed Serbia when Kosovo broke away right?

lol for trying too hard captain obvious.
at least Wanderlei got the joke.

Y-20, I have no idea where you get your info, but its pretty damn off as far as Serbian fears and plans with other former republics uf Yugoslavia. I’d be curious to know what your sources for above is.

In any case, let me assure you that at this point, Serbia does not have any reason to fear Bulgaria what so ever. Only if some crazy thing happens where New Balkan War drags both countries into the conflict. This crazy scenario is possible, but first EU, and NATO would need to fall apart.

Also, Serbia neither can nor plans to “re-unite” with Croatia, Macedonia, or Bosnia. The closest thing to this scenarios would be uniting Republika Srpska in Bosnia with Serbia, which won’t change much, if anything as far as air forces arrangement goes, and reuniting with Kosovo (which sadly for Serbia is a wet dream at this point in time).

my friend, do not give up hope.. serbia can re-conquer Srpska and Kosovo, but they need to think big and really push for military modernization.
would you ally with Albania?

Go easy now bacon..
What does it matter whom or what i am.
This is an Internet Military Aviation forum!
Pls stick to the debate and i mean the content of what we debate. And not on the person behind it. Pretty sure this is against any rules of conduct on this forum..

my happy meal friend, you are too obsessed with me and not obsessed enough with determining what Denmark’s defense needs are and what aircraft best suits those needs.
but its okay to be obsessed with me. many are. but I’m more interested in Denmark.

Nice try baiting, there Bacon..

I have nothing against our F-16 nor DanishF-16 AF. The Fact is they are due for replacment very soon.
I still feel we should go the same road that RAAF did. It doesn’t have to be the SH though, but an intermidiate solution. The F-35 is a drag.. severly delayed and we are not even talking about maturnity..

no need to overanalyze everything. you’re not a woman. or maybe you are.. i don’t know behind that username.
but I don’t disagree with your idea.. lease F-18Es until something better comes along.
but when will that be? I don’t see any new fighter aircraft on the horizon in the west. all the happening stuff is east of Ukraine.
You plan for Denmark to wait for FA-XX?

That would only happend if our F-35A has support from some dedicated Jammer unit, or our F-35A carry the NGJ.. good luck with that:highly_amused:

Bar our crappy Falcons, Our AF has none of those two..

As things stand on the NGJ its as much vapor now, as it was 6 years ago..

And pls stop these Tom Clancy examples, it only make you look bad.
B.t.w. i would not call SAG of Slava/Sovremennys a modern surface group.

ok so you don’t like Danish F-16s and you don’t think the F-35 is appropriate.. then what else should Denmark go for?

There will be two instrumented test aircraft that will be used for AESA development testing, the British T1 sigle seat IPA5 and the German T3A twin seat IPA8 which is currently in final assembly.

10q scorpio, when will they be in full production?
where is Rafale right now in mass producing their aesa in comparison?

1. cleaner looks and less aerodynamic drag

2. scarier looks

3. hides titanium engine blades which means significantly reduced frontal radar signature

4. no moving parts which means less weight and no need for regular maintenance

5. easier construction

There is no disadvantage to DSI, which is why Chinese planes use DSI.

1,3,4,5 = good points
2 = not sure if it is scary looking. DSI makes it look like its smiling at you
