I think the SU35 is far too large for many countries. the MiG35 is a true russian equivalent to the Eurocanards IMHO… if only they’d make the damned thing!
it is closer to being a Russian equivalent but its also a lot larger and heavier than the Eurocanards and weighs almost as much as the F-15A

those are some large looking aircraft..
i can’t see them gaining access to a single engine design unless they are looking to make a fighter in the size of the Gripen
 ?????
the upgraded version with new intakes, definitely shows the F-4 lineage
North Vietnamese MiG-21s spanked the butts of many american fighters producing several aces
also Indian MiG-21s slaughtered many Pakistani aircraft like Pakistanis slaughtering Bengalis.
What’s that plane?
basically a single engined F-4
Had the J20 get larger intakes, i had said it was meat for very high speed operations, but now i can see is a stealthier and larger Typhoon, and thats OK.
Instead the PAKFA looks more like a multirole aircraft, with very high performance, like a stealthier Rafale…but with much more bigger engines.
The whole J20’s configuration can make difficult for it to carry very heavy loads, probably many missiles, but not very heavy, like ASMs
While the PAKFA bomb bays are pretty well distributed, and IMO are meant for heavy ASM weapons.
So there you go.
are you blind? the length of the j-20’s bottom bays are huge
the j-20 is a larger fatter aircraft than pak-fa and could most likely store more internally.
i don’t think it would be as manoverable as the pak-fa or as fast.
The USSR would’ve taken longer to wipe out Iraq because they didn’t have the resources as the US and were in great financial difficulty at that time
however, the USSR probably would’ve been thorough and hunted Saddam down and bring his corpse back to Moscow where Gorbachev would’ve created a toupee from his moustache and parade around in public with it. This would’ve negated the need for a second iraqi war.
su-35 by far.. its at least being produced
There new plane. 😀
topspeed’s dream airplane
Good ol F-11 Tiger
f-11 tiger is quite a looker..but this is better
it lasted USn service far longer than the tiger which was retired rather quickly.
No sir !
Do you remember how F-104 reached 103 000 ft ? And Ye-66 ( Mig-21 ) 113 000 ft without rockets ?
Let’s calculate a bit..plane empty 2270 kg…few missiles couple rounds for that cannon….zoom flite fuel 300 kg …glides back to base…no lets add another 150 kgs. What do have now ? We have 159 kg/m2 wing loading in a plane that has extremely little drag. This goes easily to 60 km if needed with double the power than D-21 had and half the weight.
This is the extension in the both ends of the envelope that I mean.
please, F-104 was a normal size plane that had enough room for fuel and a pilot.
your design has no room for a pilot because the cockpit is too small to house both a pilot and a dashboard, no room for the radar you want because the radome is too small.. and you expect it to fly at mach 2.5 when there’s no room for an engine because the space is taken up by your internal bay, let alone fuel to power such a powerful engine. whats even more ridiculous is that you expect it to glide down on those puny wings.
what’s next? your unicorn fighter will be able to shoot down F-22s?
mig-23 is a more complicated plane and more difficult to take care of which is why many air forces which operated both the 21 and 23 opted to keep the 21.
most warpac countries are small and range was not much of an issue. The true heir to the mig-21 is the larger, heavier, more complicated mig-29 but it came out close to the end of the cold war which is why its limited in numbers. Most only got it in 1986.
had the cold war ended in early 2001 instead of 1991, I’m sure there would be a much larger amount of mig-29s in service.
there was no need for most of the warpac AF for the Mig-25 other than recon assets.
Apologies for resurrecting this thread from the dead. Just came across this plane and thought it deserves more discussion.
I think this plane looks beautiful and what’s more it looks like an early 1950s JF-17. Here are some interesting points:
1. One of the variants had potentially the first DSI intake.
2. Was among the first area ruled planes.
3. Shot itself down, first plane to do so!
4. Used alloys and milling to lighten weight.
5. Lost out to the Starfighter, a plane that never should have been bought. Some suggest bribery by Lockheed may have been involved.
6. Is probably the grandfather of the F-5, Mirage F-1, F-16 and JF-17.What a mistake Pakistan did in choosing the Starfighter! Grumman was willing to hand over licence production to Germany and Japan on what appears very easy and reasonable terms.
here’s another similarity.
7. only one customer
8. quickly made obsolete.. although in the JF-17’s case it already was obsolete when it entered service
ps, other than the single engine, there is nothing similar about its design with the JF-17. wishful thinking strikes again.
That pic tells a lot, thx.
But what kind of Mig-29 variant, is that pics supposed to be?
Depending on the Mig-29 variant, shouln’t the Mig-35 nose be larger/longer?
Would be interesting to know for comparison reason.
It seems the difference is pretty much the same kind of modification the Gripen NG will see, a stretched airframe.
Even with the increased RD-33MKM engine thrust, the Mig-35 will not get the same T/W ratio as the Mig-29 9.12 variant, correct?
there was a mig-35 model out there, the tail stinger was longer
i dare you guys try find a Spanish EF-18 in former USAF aggressor markings
