I disagree that the UAE fighter selection would (or even should) be based purely on performance. The UAE already operates the F-16 blk 60, which is likely very similar to the new variant Lockheed is offering. This means that the UAE already has the infrastructure in place to support the aircraft- spares are available, maintenance crew and pilots are trained, etc… You have to look at Total Life Cycle Cost- would it make more sense for the UAE to buy a whole new aircraft and duplicate all the infrastructure already in place for a similar aircraft that they are already operating? I don’t think so. The F-16 blk 60 and Rafale are probably close enough in performance (kinematics aside where the Rafale is clearly superior) that it would make more sense to buy the cheaper, easier option. I could not see justifying a Rafale purchase over the F-16 when they are already operating the F-16. It simply wouldn’t make any sense.
indeed, b60 should last them until their 5th gen fighter from whereever it is comes.

what version of the F-15 were they comparing to the Su-30? it seems like they were using an old one if they kept citing age, lack of ew, etc..
certainly the newer su-30 would spank the f-15a
I have to say I do love the F-4 but right now for me the best 3rd gen type is the Mirage F-1 MF2000 as it has M2K-5 A2A performance and Rafale A2G capability and is cheaper to operate than F-4
tell me more about this configuration.
who’s using it.
Paralay…RpR is correct the A-10 is 16.26 meters long and Flogger is 17 meters even.
Still A-10 cannon is bigger..but not quite that big as your illustration now indicates.

Here is my newest with 170 rounds for BK27 27 mm BORDKANONE !

Also holds 50 rounds more than J-39 Gripen ( 10 short from F-35 ).

And here with other GATLING cannon istalled small non afterburning turbofan fitted fighters !

All are in the same scale !

Does it look that way above ?

AMX and Gripen are too small to hold internal bays.
as for your design, you need space for the air intake, engine, bays, fuel, and avionics.
if your plane is a modern day Me-163, a country would find it more cheaper and efficient to rely on S-300 instead
Regarding the Y-20 I agree with You but with the J-20 it confirms noting and why should the engine be the same ???
By the way nearly each and every detail indicate that it uses the AL-31FN,
the al-31FN is the first version but now there’s a new one.
the D-30 provides the power the J-20 would need as the Al-31 might be underpowered for the J-20.
this is speculation but I don’t see how you think the new version is the same engine.
A few more unique images of AAF stars, MiG-25s and Su-30MKAs. Thanks to 7T-WIM and Dr. Watson.
mack, any reason behind the two different camouflage schemes for the AAAF flankers?
why bother with a small 5th gen fighter?
it would be too small to have an internal bay, yet it will have all the aerodynamic penalties of a facted design associated with 5th gen aircraft.
Actually China does not have any place in Asia. It will always hide behind Russia for negotiated settlement.
Priority of Chinese leaders is too keep themselves in power they are in no position to intervene anywhere let alone North Korea. see Libya example. Chinese losses are the highest. Chinese does not have any influence in NK. why so many NK goes to work in Russia? as they want separate income stream.
The list of Russia arms suppliers in Asia is very long. starting from Vietnam, Bangladesh, Myanmar, India, Mongolia, South Korea etc. Russia intentially does not deal with Taiwan/Pakistan/Japan/NK
Only thing Russia worried is the war will weaken economics of SK/China/Japan prematurely. so Russia cannot squeeze them as much for resource prices. At some point Russia will completely cutoff LNG and other supplies from Middleast to Asia. (depending on how fast rearmeanent programes goes). Than it will force its own solution on Asia.
Germany went ahead with Nordstream pipeline but Japan made mistake.http://ajw.asahi.com/article/economy/business/AJ201211050009
i agree, thats why Raison would be better off under Russian administration not South Korea or Chinese who would simply use it for sweat shop labor.
the Russians would most likely help build basic infrastructure and support for basic services, but would other wise, let the North Koreans do as they need.
Slowly a few more images are appearing … but so far no flight !
At least the nose has been painted. :very_drunk:
Thank you Deinosaur for the pictures. Y-20 is a very sexy beast and I have updated myself to relfect it so.
D-30 engines it seems. This confirms that most likely J-20 also uses D-30 variant.
