Kamov was probably under NDA and likely the same with Antonov and thats why (at least in Kamov’s case), it took such a long time for an official release from Kamov. So if there is an NDA on MiG, the moments it is lifted we will know for sure whether there actually was cooperation on the J-20.

There are rumors of how unhappy the PLAAF and PLAN are with Shenyang. Recent rumors suggest the PLAAF and PLAN are no longer interested in the J-31 and its marketed only as FC-31. Meaning it is only an export projects. Shenyang is known to bully its way around due to high connections. It bullied its way in to the J-20 program as a subcontractor after handsomely losing the J-XX proposal.

Thanks. i agree J-31 seems to be a dud from many reports. A lot of effort to make it LOOK modern, good enough for fanboys to eat. but not tasty enough for people who actually want a working jet.

Eh, that is a long shot to put mildly IMO. The Chinese company has no aviation experience, the An-225 was never fully certified, basically a one-two-off, even completing the unfinished leftover would be a major hassle. And for what purpose? I could see it being plumbing for heavy freighter expertise for a heavy future Chinese lifter, but nothing as grand as An-225.

According to that same poster, his insiders @ Antonov said complete documentation practically does not exist, and some documentation only exists in the hands of entities outside Ukraine (Ulyanovsk, Hydromash, etc).

    thats interesting
    z-10 = assistance from kamov
    y-20 = assistance from antonov
j-20 = maybe from mig as we all thought

some interesting news at the end where shenyang admits to corruption and bribes, affecting to poor quality and unfinished RD. leading to need to keep importing from Russia and espionage on US

a flight of 5 rafales vs 15 mig-29s. No, the rafales will not survive. assuming each mig-29 is using 6 missiles, there is no way the rafale will survive 90 shots.
it should be statistically obvous to anyone but your hate for Russia is too strong.

The number of engines is irrelevant, the thrust produced versus the SFC and the overall drag of the design are the key points.

    what about fuel consumption?

    good information.

    so for comparison sake

    Internal Fuel (Liters)

Mirage 2000 about 3900 feeding one engine
F-16 about 4000 feeding one engine (not sure which variant, just saw it on LM site)
    MiG-29 4300 feeding two engines
    Rafale 4700 feeding two engines
    MiG-29KM 5720 feeding two engines
    F-35C 8900 feeding one engine

did anyone else take note on this part: “Chinese appear to have sent their best pilots, Thais said they had never seen anything like it from western air forces”

how many hours do chinese pilots get ?

so you saying Thais in their Gripen had a scenario where they went undefeated against China’s best? amazing

yall going ape **** over the 300 of 800 word article on Janes.
What else does it say? anyone have access to the rest?

I, and most others on the board, personally felt India should’ve NOT bought the carrier and build their own and operate Rafales and LCAs off them.

And so even a thread about collaboration between countries went into the usual male genital measuring contest…
    :applause::applause::applause:

For the rest a 50% burden sharing doesn’t mean that all would contribute to the design at the same percentage, at the contrary a country whose technology is actually lagging behind another would find a great advantage in contribuing at the other project as soon as they would share information and gather experience.
More evident case is the PAK-FA /FGFA which would remain an almost exclusive russian project but grant India access to a knovledge base that it would take decades to pair up indigenously at a far greater cost.
In the case of the above mentioned project i expect however a more direct Chinese contributionalmost in some areas.

yes please stop taking the bait guys. it is obvious jsr and byoin is the same person trying to derail the thread.

anyways Russia will certainly contribute to the engine since China can’t make any powerful ones yet on any platform.
but the structure of the aircraft itself.. maybe China would edge out Russia?

also how will they balance their needs? has their needs been identified?

Y-20 is a modern design – but it is not designed by the chinese. It was designed by Antonov. History with Z-10 is repeated.

    how do you know this?
Z-10 I believe since there’s information about it and Kamov working together (in fact I think you posted it)
but the Antonov and Y-20 is new to me

1.) They just got them, I doubt they got any new weapons batches yet.

2.) How much Kazakhstan is really spending on these birds is a question mark (internal prices + aid from Russia), so I doubt they were in a position to buy/ask for Su-35.

3.) On the other hand, their deputy defense minister did mention they might buy Su-35 in the future.

on #2. So KZ is getting Russian prices plus financial assistance. I wonder how much they are really paying for them

on #3. Right now they seem to be operating 8 different types of combat aircraft (Su-24, MiG-23,27,29,31, Su-25, 27,30, )
