Papa Lima & Lima November, thanks for that, and I look forward to hearing from you about it. LN, please could you tell the gentleman concerned that I think his insignia is a beautiful design and looks wonderful on his Hunter? Bex
Ok Its a squadron insignia for a Swiss air force unit. I have no further info.
I flew Dakota OY-BPB as PAX from Sola airport Stavanger in 1996,with AN 2 and Dakota LN-WND in close formation.
Hi Bex,
All I have found out is that it’s a Hunter F.58 owned by Oyvind Ellingsen and based at Såtenäs, Sweden (about an hour’s car drive from where I live).
Perhaps another more knowledgeable Forum member knows what the symbol means?
Come on, DanielK or Sierra Echo Fred, where are you?
Happy birthay Papa Lima.About the insignia at Mr Ellingsens Hunter I will contact him personally since I know him and give you an answer. Maybe Wingnut or TJ will be helpful too.
LimaNovember:-)
Yes, mostly stock footage – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, to be honest, given the immense volumes of footage that was shot and not even used!! They didn’t use too much, however – mostly Heinkel formation shots, and exploding planes.
The IDs of the main aircraft protagonists were:
Spitfires:
MkIa AR213 (Sheringham Aviation – currently under rebuild)
MkIXb MH434 (OFMC – flying)
MkIXe ML417 (Tom Friedkin – flying)
MkIXc NH238 (WoGB/Flying A Services – stored?)
PRXI PL983 (Historic Flying – currently under rebuild)“Me109s”:
G-BOML (destroyed in Spain, 1999 – pilot Mark Hanna died of injuries a little while later)
G-HUNN (Cavanaugh Flight Museum, Texas – airworthy)
D-FEHD (Messerschmitt Foundation, rebuilt to G-10 configuration by then-owner Hans Dittes – flying)In addition, the CAF Spitfire IX, MK297, and CASA-Heinkel 111 were used in Episode 3 for one sequence. Both of those are now sadly no longer with us. There was also the former Aces High Heinkel used in that episode, representing the crashed bomber, and a Ju52 (Aces High?) for another short scene in the guise of a rescue plane.

“Piece of cake” went on Norwegian broadcasting some years ago. I remembered Moggy caracter.Did the producers of “Piece of cake” used clip/scenes from “Battle of Britain” movie??
Nice pictures TJ.I didnt got near the Heron and I had a busy time answering questions about the Broussard and looked after the pilots daughter. Next time its your turn:D
Me and Mrs LN after a nice DC 3 trip over Oslo:D She hasnt tried the Broussard yet:)
Gladiator N5641 HE-B was bought from a scrap merchant by a lay preacher and was stored for many years. It was then donated to RNoAF during the 70s and restored. It was displayed at Gardermoen before it was moved to Bodø
We were in Oslo in January, and indeed, they are totally different places. The Air Museum is out at the airport 20 miles out of town and the armed forces museum is right next to the harbor downtown. Watch for scheduling, the air museum is closed A LOT in the winter time……I missed it!!!:( But did make the Bodo Museum-Very highly recomended (but very dimly lit, at least in winter time)
Hmmm…The air museum at Gardermoen is a fine museum and they having different activities there. The museum is usally closed at mondays. Some weeks ago Eric “Winkle” Brown had a lecture there. Warbirds of Norway having a video evening and Fly in later this year.
I hope you will be more lucky next time you wisit Oslo and Gardermoen air museum.I can be helpful with informations since I just become a member there.

Hi Papa Lima
I wasnt in the Dakota but I enjoyed a pleasant stay in the Netherlands this weekend flying AN 2 and Catalina at Lelystad.:D
The norwegian Dakota LN-WND is a pretty sight indeed an I having some 30 hours PAX time in it:)
Many thanks for those excellent suggestions – I like the parking warning best!
For those of you familiar with Photobucket, I have now joined it with the username “skribenten” and put up some of the photos I took that day in an album called “Aeroseum Day May 6 2007”.
Foe those who haven’t visited Photobucket the procedure is to Google to that name, then in the Photobucket search field to the top right, enter “skribenten”and in the window that appears, click on the appropriate heading to see the skribenten albums.
So far I have only the one album, but will add more as time permits – the pictures take ages to upload, but on the other hand they are fairly high resolution.
Thanks again, and I hope to post more items soon, such as the recent trip Colin and I made to Gardermoen and Bodö to see the excellent Norwegian Aircraft Collections (that means “Museums” to us non-Scandinavians!).By the way, can anyone tell me the type of aircraft that is registered SE-LBY (shown in the album)? I think it is some kind of Robin.
By the way.We couldnt make it to the Aero sum open day. The weather was terrible and we had to return to Kjeller only 7nm from the airport:mad:
