I agree Wingnut yesterday was a very fine day for Tiger flying. ;)You must remember to order seat in the Broussard for the August tours

    LimanN.

    Very nice LimaNovember!

You really picked the right day for a Moth ride…
When I had my MAX-ride it was raining and the cloud base was close to nothing, but it was still enjoyable!

    To “Propstrike”:
It has usually not been possible to operate off grass anywhere near Oslo, but just the other day I heard that the group operating LN-MAX from Kjeller airfield have made a short (320meters) grass runway alongside the paved one at Kjeller. So, now they probably save the tailskid a bit…

I dont think it would be any airshow tours for me in the UK this summer.Brakes?? Hmmm..they arent good.Only Kjeller had sufficient place to land on grass.

What a lovely looking Moth ! I trust we will be seeing you at Woburn next month, and I am sure nobody will be imperintent enough to mention those non-standard brakes.
Can you operate off grass at Oslo?

    Hi
There are two Tigers airworthy and both of them are stationed at Kjeller airport between Oslo and Gardermoen Int.airport.Both of them had been used in movies for children.LN-MAX was painted in this colors for a film.At Kjeller there was a production line for Tiger Moths.About 35 planes was build. The Germans scrapped almost everone. They are restoring one surviving Kjellerbuild Tiger Moth there at the moment

Lovely shots Lima, thanks for posting. How many airworthy Tigers are there in Norway at the moment?

Try Centennial Hotel.Nice staff and good rooms

It finally looks as though I’m going to Flying Legends this year. Flight has been booked so I’m leaving Oslo on the 8th and returning at “too early hundred hours” on the 12th. But does anyone have a suggestion as to where to stay? Usually, when I’ve been to Duxford I’ve stayed in London, but this year I don’t wanna spend the time going back and forth but stay in the general area around Duxford/Cambs. Also, due to my tax return not going as well as hoped I’m in for the budget trip! Damn taxman…. 😮 🙁

Hoping to see some forumites there for some hangar flying including a low level pass by a pint or two. Maybe even some heroic bulls**t storys might emerge!

The Ju52 in Norway used floats when they mainly operated around the coast of Norway. They also transported sick people to hospitals when needed. Then the pax had to wait. Some of the Ju 52 also had Germans markings on.The museum at Bodø I found dark, but ok.There was some arguments about moving the museum up north, but theres a museum at Gardermoen I found better. We had a fly in last year at Gardermoen.I was a pax in Broussard LN-WNB(See my profile picture).

Ah, I saw this aircraft at Bodo a few years ago, lovely little museum with a rich assortment of aircraft. Where else can you see a JU-52 on floats?

Its a shame that they didnt kept the Catalina airworthy.During the ferry flight to Bodø the Catalina had a stopover at Sola.My former CO at Sola was a crewmember at Catalinas during the “fiftees” and inspected the aircraft on this occation.

During my stay at Sola as armour corporal he told me lots of stories about flying Catalinas in harsh Norwegian climate. He later flew Albatrosses and ended his flying service in P3 Orion.

I see some of the famous Brit Jets such as Jaguars,Buccaneers,Canberra etc. Most bizzarre of the aircrafts was the French Breuget Atlantic, but the most memorable of them all.A Lookheed U2 with blue and white paintscheme.
