You will find that the promise of quiet nights to be false. These aircraft land all times of night. .

I use to live near a railway line and you could hear it all the time but after a while you get use to it .

So what sort of timescale are we talking about here before they stop flying from STN. I mean should I run up there within the next 2 weeks to get photos of them.

    Cheers, Huw:)

I think they have been saying if BAWC do come to Manston It be in May.

What? Thought it was one of the longest civil runways in the south or did you forget your smilie?

I heard its the wildest runway in the whole of UK, Though I did hear that its also a landing site for the Nasa Space shuttle 😮

Thanet Council have voted to agree an extension to flying hours :p

They have thats brilliant news 😎 ,well not brilliant for STN and those who will lose there jobs if BAWC now move from there to Manston.

I am Glad that the NIMBY’s did not win like to see what they are saying now:D , Well done Thanet council all MSE needs now is an expainson done to its Runway.

I hope the nimbys win. My husband works for the company handling these flights at Stanstead. So long live nimbys. He will lose his job and many others like him who give their all to this company.

This is the only bad news as people in STN will lose there jobs , but we will find out tomorrow.

    From BBC:

An object of boyish wonder, an aviation milestone, a sea-change for cheap air travel, a Jumbo of a plane, the Boeing 747 celebrates its 40th birthday.

Some interesting facts (also taken from the BBC website!):

    – 1,500 planes built or ordered
    – 17 million flights made
    – 42 billion nautical miles flown
    – Equivalent to moon and back 100,000 times
    – BA has biggest fleet – 57 of the planes

    Full article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7880808.stm

Happy Birthday 747:D I never knew BA has the biggest fleet of 747 😮 I thought it was Japan Airlines then Cathay Pacific followed by BA

I think you’ll find MSE will be offering cheaper landing/handling fees than what STN currently do, so that could partly affect the decision to want to move.

Overall though, I think this is great news for MSE if it does work out.

Seeing as the current government constantly bleats on about the importance of aviation to UK economy, I am sure the creation of jobs and potential development opportunities at MSE will warm their hearts as it will help to improve the airport’s profile; it seems to be forgotten about!

Now all they’ve got to work on is getting some more regular pax scheduled services to/from the airport.:)

I think you could be right there mate, as thats what I think Oasis did use Manston because its cheaper then to use anywhere else.

well lets hope flybe expand out of the airport if there MSE-JER route is popular.

This contract comes up for tenter every few years and they also look at LHR, LGW (Knowing they will not go to either),so they will probaly just stay at Stansted anyway. This is just paper talk !!

    G-ANPK

Well we will find out this thrusday , I am told that a signing of contracts could also take place aswel . Plus if this is just paper talk then why ask manston to allow to have night time flights?

It is British Airways World Cargo, operated by Global Supply Systems, possibly moving from Stansted. Only possibly because it requires an increase in Manston’s opening hours which has to be approved by the local council – and the NIMBYs are apparently already mobilising.

    A

Which I am hoping the councill will allow, as it create jobs for the area and at this time people are looking for jobs, aswel we get to see more 747’s action at Manston ,plus it p*ss off the NIMBYS :diablo: Has BAWC been told to stop the night flights at Stansted and thats why they are trying Manston?

I disgree Bmused55, I think both Star liveries are way better than this…but I suppose that is just a matter of opinion and personal taste.:D

If anything, I think it would look slightly better perhaps if they had taken the British Airways logo and put it towards the back of the aircraft, like they have done on the OpenSkies livery: http://www.airliners.net/photo/OpenSkies-(British-Airways)/Boeing-757-236/1456721&tbl=photo_info&photo_nr=12&sok=WHERE__%28airline_%3D_%27OpenSkies_%28British_Airways%29%27%29_&sort=_order_by_photo_id_DESC_&prev_id=1457730&next_id=1454625

I like it looks nice 😎 Though Jon mate I have to not agree with you I think it looks better were the BA logos are but it would nice to see what it looks like with the BA logos like Openskies.
