Have you actually been to Scampton! it is so run down we refused to go there when Coningsby’s runway was resurfaced, we went to Barkston Heath instead and that wasn’t that good.
Yeah went last year to see the Reds.Where would the BBMF like to move too?
The bits of the RAF that turn your little air display flying machines into effective war fighting aircraft. Without them, you may as well stay at home and not have an air force!
James read the RAF web site and stop looking at just the pictures, you may learn something about modern AIR POWER!
Yeah I look at the RAF website only looking at aircraft, base’s Equipment ,news and downloads ๐

There are four airworthy Lightnings in South Africa with current pilots, So why can they not come over to the UK and Display? Reason, the CAA considers the design dangerous. Same for the Harrier. The Harrier has some very nasty flying characteristics especially in the hover. The classic one is its habit of rolling on its back due to sideslip induced roll, caused by crosswind on the large intakes if the aircraft is not flown directly into the wind at speeds below 100kts causing the aircraft to yaw rapidly. (There is a wind vane on the nose to inform the pilot of what the wind is doing and to show which way to point). The other problem is while in the hover it is very easy to move the wrong lever and move the nozzles when you want to change engine power or vice versa. The end result is the aircraft falling out of the sky. (First time it happened in public was at a Paris air show in the 1960’s with a P1127, the last time it happened was with a GR7 at Lowestoft in 2002). So only let the Harrier fly CTOL. Not recommended, CTOL lift off and touch down is 160Kt and is only used by the RAF in emergencies. Its not a problem for the RAF, as they do not have to worry about fuel costs and training. Different story of a Civil owned bird.
Well I never knew that, So how come the bucc is becoming on the CAA?and just wondering what other RAF aircraft could become on the CAA?
Regards
James
Was the Coastguard Islander just there for the airshow do you know? Its normal based at Manston ๐

K Raghu
Tuesday, September 12, 2006 22:23 ISTBANGALORE: Aerospace engineering firm Cades Digitech Pvt Ltd is in talks with The Netherlands-based Rekkof Aircraft, to manufacture under licence the family of Fokker aircraft in India for the airline market in the country.
Cades is planning to invest close to $300 million in an assembly plant for producing the family of 75-, 90- and 100-seater aircraft in India, industry sources said told DNA Money
โWe are in talks to produce the Fokker aircraft in India. But we have not had any commitments,โ Cades Digitech managing director and CEO Dataram Mishra said.
NHIC has invested $6.5 million in the 350-member Cades, which focuses on R&D and engineering services to aerospace and auto firms globally.
Aviation industry sources estimate a requirement of around 350 aircraft in the regional jet category in India over the next two decades.
A small group of private investors own Rekkof, which produces the work in a limited scale. The Fokker aircraft, whose initial designs go back to the early 1980s, has to be upgraded with new avionics and family of engines to meet the current requirements.
โThe assembly line for the Fokker aircraft is likely to be located in Bangalore,โ industry sources said, but Mishra declined to comment.
