Yeah, James, as much as I would like to sing to Manston’s praises, as I do think it has good potential, you do have to wonder why other airlines have not already started services. I think an FR service to Dublin would be perfect for the airport and area itself, but it has not had any schedulded passenger traffic since the collapse of EUJet, and has only just begun operations with one charter operator, KentEscapes.com.
To be honest, the Government are constantly complaining that they need another airport to quench demand in the South-East, and Manston, along with other airports such as Southend and Lydd (London Ashford), all have good potential, but with LGW’s sphere of influence, I really doubt it would be possible, unless there was another start-up carrier like EUJet. Perhaps, it could be called Air SouthEast (intended pun against Air Southwest…poor joke I know 😮 ).
KentEscapes will grow each year next year they are doing flights to Majorca Faro and benidorm I think they are canceling the Barcelona route.I do hope more routes come soon and FR doing a DUB service.
