Why is it that all you see is Rapter and F35? neither are proven aircraft. The F35 isnt even in production so we dont know what its going to be like. The F22 Rapter hasn’t seen combat deployment (Afganistan, Iraq) because the US Air Force will not deploy it outside the US (apart from a brief stint in Japan). There are other alternatives. The new MiG 35, SU37, SU29, Typhoon, Rafale, Grippen……….the list is endless.

You’ll probably say its because small AF like Japan, RAF etc can’t afford Rapter. We can. We just don’t need it. Nuff said!!

If I was A Canadian, I’d be pretty worried if the F35 came on the agenda. Recent war games in the USA have shown that Typhoon can outfly Rapter. 16 ops 12 to typhoon 4 to Rapter. Where’s the argument Guys?

Can I offer my unconditional apologies for my previous post? I had no idea I had overstepped the mark. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to cause any offense at all. Sorry Guys 🙁

Good grief!! the fact of the matter was that the local Falklanders were British Citizens! No matter how far away the Falklands are. Would we be having this discussion if Scotland were near Argentina? or is it yet another case of size matters?

I, as a British Subject, are very proud of what was achieved in the South Atlantic. Being 21 at the time and seeing a queue half a mile long outside the army recruitment office in Nottingham when the Argentines invaded, i think you’ll find most of my generation are of the same ilk.

Now ask if i feel the same about Afganistan or Iraq.

actually, the colour of PS853 is wrong. its not a true PR blue. PM631 is nearer although I think they used Landrover Blue for that 1 because PR blue is hard to come by. the last aircraft to carry PR Blue were the PR9 Canberras

    Hi Kurt,

Lubeck is in Holland, I think. a lot of Spitfire testing was done there just after the war especially with Spit PRXIX’s. is the XIV Clipped wing XIV or standard wing? low or high back?

    cheers

    mike
